Is anyone else tired of navel-gazing pieces on firearms written by people who know nothing about them? If you’re not, you’re in luck! Slate added another to the trash heap:
Sunday night, when my son asked me why we shoot each other dead almost every day in America, I got to tell him that it’s because we are “free.” We are free to get a .223 caliber AR-15–style semi-automatic rifle and a 9mm handgun. And we are free to sell those weapons to someone who might shoot and kill 49 people in a nightclub because of whom they choose to love. We are free to arm ourselves against any potentially tyrannical federal government and also free to watch our children bleed to death in our schools, and churches, and clubs.
Lady, if you’re teaching your kid that he’s “free” to sell guns to prohibited possessors or murder people in a nightclub, you’re parenting wrong.

(Unless of course this bimbo and her unfortunate son are part of the urban gang culture. If that is the case, then THEY shoot each other because they are a bunch of criminal predators who are not willing to pursue any other means of making a living.)
"We need to take guns away from people! We need to shut down all the churches: they just breed hatred. We need to nationalize the big industries! We need to take the money away from the rich people and give it to the poor people! The government can fix all this stuff if we just give it a chance!"
I walked up and indicated that I did not entirely agree.
"You!" she spat. "You're a Republican! You're a fascist! All you want to do is control people!"
I said, "I'm a Conservative. That means I want to be left alone. But it sounds like you sure want to control things."
She stormed off.
I wonder what the numbers on "gun violence" would look like with gang/drug violence removed. Awful lot of "kids" getting killed that are 19-year-old gang bangers.
I've seen stats on national crime, if you remove the top 10 high crime areas (cities) from the stats - spoiler, the numbers become almost negligible.
Wasn’t it the fascists who did all those things? If so, wouldn’t being called a fascist be a compliment among those people? What this woman needs is a lesson in 20th century history.
