Kaepernick jersey sales soar to #1 after anthem controversy

Despite the outrage on your Facebook feed, it seems Colin Kaepernick's decision not to stand during the national anthem has proven a popular one.

As noted by former Mercury News reporter Mike Rosenberg, Kap's jersey has almost overnight gone from the 20th-most popular shirt in the 49ers store to the No. 1 pick.

Or maybe all those people are buying his jersey so they can burn them in a counter-protest. Hard to say.

At any rate, the NFL will be happy to profit from this controversy. Kaepernick jerseys were on clearance at the end of last season, and now they're back at full-price: $99.99.

Kap will be addressing the congregation at San Francisco's Third Baptist Church on Sunday morning. You can watch a live stream of that here.

Lol! It’s just the homobama voters doing their best impression of the dead-cat bounce before the Trump takeover.

That’s what I’d like to see . . . who is buying the jerseys? It could be NFL for all that. Likely it is all just on paper anyway.

I’m sure that “skew” should be the word of the day on this one.

If 98% of the people dislike you, but 2% suddenly think you are a hero, that 2% can buy enough jerseys to make you very rich.

I do not believe most white, conservative football fans understand how deep the Disney/ABC/ESPN rot goes.

The NFL has to be EXTREMELY careful with this situation. Billions of dollars, tens of thousands of hot babes, property, influence, connections - all are at risk.

I won’t be surprised if there are mass player protests in the major college conferences this Fall. In the NFL? Too soon to know.

So what do we learn from this?

I posit that we learn that it is no longer “stupid ginger” is it not “stupidginger”.

I think you sell the card first, then make your purchase. If your kids need food, oh well. There’s always more taxpayer money to pay for that.

“Or maybe all those people are buying his jersey so they can burn them in a counter-protest.”

That must be it.

Spending $120.00 on a Kaepernick jersey so that you can burn it in protest is not the most logical form of protest, but it is your First Amendment right.

Some may be buying them in anticipation of the price going up and selling them on eBay.
