Van Susteren leaving Fox News, Hume tapped as replacement through election

Greta Van Susteren, who has hosted a top-rated evening program at Fox News for 14 years, is leaving the network.

The abrupt announcement today, in the middle of the presidential campaign, was coupled with word that Brit Hume, Fox’s senior political analyst and a former Washington managing editor, will take over as host of “On the Record” through the election.

Hume said he is “happy to take on this assignment for the balance of this extraordinary election. My Fox News colleagues have set a high standard for political coverage which I’ll do my best to uphold. I’m honored to be asked.”

Van Susteren, an attorney who hosted a legal show at CNN before joining Fox, has had a richly varied career, from interviewing presidential candidates to flying off to disaster zones such as Haiti, where she opened an orphanage and school named after her. The Wisconsin native has also been a forceful presence online, with her blog and with more than 1 million Twitter followers.

Bill Shine and Jack Abernethy, recently named co-presidents of Fox News, said in a joint statement: “We are grateful for Greta’s many contributions over the years and wish her continued success.” They also praised Hume as “one of the best political analysts in the industry” and “the ideal choice to host a nightly political program while the most dynamic and captivating election in recent history unfolds.”

If Brit Hume is anything at all, he's DULL!

Oh well, I don't watch anything on Fox other than Hannity when Trump is on anyway.

What’s the difference between Greta and Obama?

I, too, am waiting for Hannity to leave. And Fox and Friends seem to be more favorable toward Trump.

They are purging all employees who are loyal to Trump. FOX is done-for. I’ll never watch them again—except for Hannity; I’ll make an exception for Sean—as long as they keep him, I’ll watch.

They are cleaning out the Trump supporters.

Sean Hannity will be next.

Britt Hume is a Cheap Labor Express stooge.

Expect the Ministry of Propaganda (which Fox is part of) to go all out to defeat Trump.

They cannot allow the citizens to reverse 30 years of bipartisan policy of non-enforcement of immigration laws.

That would surprise me. She’s been not so supportive of Trump since the primaries ended.

I enjoyed watching Greta’s show..she was fair, yes at times she did lean left but she was always fair she always covered BOTH sides..and last night she had a special about the Trumps(It was a repeat but it was nice to see) I am so sorry to see her go..what has happened to Fox News is simple, they want to show like they are a leftist network, for ratings..they want Hillary Clinton elected just like they wanted Obama elected 8 years ago because they know that with a Democrat in the White House they can bring in all the pissed off Republicans to watch their network, its how they got so popular..its all about ratings and power at FNC..Murdoch wanted Trump gone from day 1, read yesterday a story how they paid Megyn Kelly 6 mil during the 1st Debate to “Take out Trump”

If you had read the article you would have read that she had asked to renegotiate her contract after Roger Ailes resigned under pressure as Fox News chairman following a sexual harassment lawsuit. She was one of a number of key Fox personel whose contract included a "key man" clause allowing her to leave if Ailes leave.

Van susteren chose to invoke the departure option when those negotiations dead locked. Her last show was Thursday and the swiftness of events did not allow her to deliver an on-air farewell

Oh btw yesterday was also Anna Kooiman's last day on Fox News. She was one of the weekend hosts of Fox and Friends. She and her husband are moving to Sidney. Australia

something going on at FOX

Happening Now seems to be repeating the first hr.

8:40 P
11:40 E

But it is 12:40 in Georgia unless I walked throught the looking glass.

Why the sudden pre-emption of Outnumbered?

“Fox News Channel is either on its way down or, it is already there!!! They could have been the “King of the Hill” forever!!! Dummies!!! Brit Hume will cause the good viewer ratings Greta maintained to dive into the toilet!!! Hint: Joe & Mike over at MSNBC used to get 300,000-350,000 viewers for their morning show, back a year or so ago. Now....they get about 150,000-200,000 per morning!!! FNC, Fox & Friends gets about 900,000-1,000,000 vewers in their morning show!!! CNN is not worth mentioning....they have no ratings, since they commenced their failed “Hate Trump” campaign.”

Fox Business Network has better, political coverage.

Yep, Yeb! was supposed to be the Designated Loser this cycle. He was supposed to lose graciously.

Even if he won, he would keep the Cheap Labor Express running and the bipartisan 30 year policy of non-enforcement of immigration laws intact.

Yes, I liked her too.

Think about what the Donald has changed?

Hillary has reportedly run 200 major TV spot purchases, Trump has reportedly run 2.

Imagine, becoming President on the cheap. Cutting the MSM out of the Political Ad money? SMILE

Oh, what a relief it is. hee hee hee

Those in charge will be happy with Brit....he’s definitely anti-Trump.

I see Hume is 73. Presumably he was brought in for the election to bash Trump for a few months. After the election they will bring in some eye candy T&A replacement no doubt.
