A freshman tentatively raises her hand and takes the microphone. Im really scared to ask this, she begins. When I, as a white female, listen to music that uses the N word, and Im in the car, or, especially when Im with all white friends, is it O.K. to sing along?
The answer, from Sheree Marlowe, the new chief diversity officer at Clark University, is an unequivocal no.

Me, too. I’m feeling microagressed here...
It depends. Are the english tourists ethinc english or are they descendants of people who migrated to Britain from sites of British opression, like India?
If they are ethnic english (i.e. white) than it is not only acceptable to sing the songs but it is in fact necessary to educate them on their past as oppressors.
If they are descendants of migrants from the former opressive British Empire, than yes, you must sing it. These people need to understand that they live in a patriarchy filled with jack booted thugs who have stolen everything from their people and must make amends.
Actually, I guess it doesn't depend, the answer is always "yes" if it's white people you are disparaging.
NYT doesn’t think it was the protests that killed enrollment at Mizzou...
“Fresh on the minds of university officials are last years highly publicized episodes involving racist taunts at the University of Missouri in Columbia which appear to have contributed to a precipitous decline in enrollment there this fall.”
It would depend on whether the British tourists were gay or transgendered and were intimidated by your overt hatred of them and your.. GET IN THE BOXCAR NOW!!!
Could he be both black and Cuban? I mean, one is a nationality, isn’t it? Is Cuban a race?
“Chalk this up as yet another reason to be pleased to be old. All the shizzle we missed by being born in the 50s! “

You consider yourself OLD and you were born in the 50s?
I was born in 1932. :-)
.
“is it O.K. to sing along?”
If you have to ask, then no.
Yep. Especially “bless his/her heart” which the first time I heard it thought it was sweet until I learned they were really being called a dumb@ss. LOL.
A new generation of American kids is being carefully and deliberately subjected to Orwellian brain-washing.
Well, bless your heart!
“...listen to music that uses the N word...”
Too bad nobody told her to stop listening to that shit music.
It’s not really music, imho.
“Its not really music, imho.”
I agree, but they play it on the radio as if it was.
I know. It’s an abomination.
Why sir, the depth of your good wishes are surpassed only by the equivocal magnitude of your heart!!!
“Considering that the next car over might contain English tourists, would it be OK if I sing along?”
It’s only ok to sing along to the traditional Irish music if it’s in Gaelic and it includes the line “Pog mo thoin”.
Maybe we can unpack it afterward, Ms. Marlowe told the student. You want to come see me afterward?
Ms. Marlowe, are you suggesting that I have some mental baggage to unpack? That’s quite microaggresive of you, Ma’am.
“Oh my goodness, y’all just sooo precious!”
