Texas newspaper endorses first Democrat for president in 75 years

The Dallas Morning News on Wednesday endorsed Hillary Clinton, backing a Democratic presidential hopeful for the first time since FDR.

“There is only one serious candidate on the presidential ballot in November: We recommend Hillary Clinton,” the paper’s editorial board declared.

“We don’t come to this decision easily. This newspaper has not recommended a Democrat for this nation’s highest since before World War II – if you’re counting, that’s more than 75 years and nearly 20 elections.”

The newspaper touted Clinton’s government experience and said she’s demonstrated an ability to work with Republicans.

“Resume vs. resume, judgment vs. judgment, this election is no contest,” the paper said of Clinton in comparison to GOP nominee Donald Trump.

I’ve come to believe the only reason newspapers endorse candidates is to remind people that newspapers still exist in the vain hope of stemming the ever-increasing loss of circulation.

Big cities like Dallas are dominated by corrupt liberals, even in otherwise Conservative states.

Not only big cities. Check out Columbia SC, home of the original Southern-fried Uniparty.

The owners and editors of the Dallas Morning News have recommended an inherently dishonest, shamelessly corrupt, impaired and sloppy woman to be the President of the United States. Their judgement can never be trusted in any matter of importance.

I love the lofty principles of these dinosaurs. This reminds me of a comment I heard a local Boston talk host make recently.Talking about the Boston Globe he reminded everyone that the NY Times paid $1.1 Billion for it in 1993 and John Henry, owner of the Red Sox,paid $70 Million for it in 2013.

Message to employees of the Dallas Morning News...it might be wise to keep your resumes up to date.

One “establishment” candidate running and it’s not Trump. If he is running as the “anti-establishment” candidate, is it a good thing to be endorsed by the Republican establishment?

That paper also did NOT endorse Goldwater over LBJ, so it is hardly a conservative beacon.

Its fear. A Democrat traveled from Kansas to ambush and kill Dallas police officers. So, now they fear if they don’t vote Democrat more killings of police officers will happen. We call it terrorism by the Democrats

Donald Trump

On September 6, 2016, the editorial board of The Dallas Morning News declined to endorse the 2016 Republican nominee, Donald Trump, in an editorial titled “Donald Trump is no Republican.” The editorial board stated, “We have no interest in a Republican nominee for whom all principles are negotiable, nor in a Republican Party that is willing to trade away principle for pursuit of electoral victory. Trump doesn’t reflect Republican ideals of the past; we are certain he shouldn’t reflect the GOP of the future. Donald Trump is not qualified to serve as president and does not deserve your vote.”

The Dallas Morning News has not been conservative since its rival, the liberal Dallas Times Herald, folded in the early 1990s. The owners are stereotypical country club types who live in the tonier parts of Dallas, like Turtle Creek and Highland Park. Any Republican affiliation they have is just out of tradition, not from any adherence to conservative principles. They are comfortable with country club GOP-e types like the Bushes, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and John Cornyn. To their point, Trump is a barbarian from the less savory parts of New York City, Archie Bunker country, that threatens their comfortable niche in the uniparty elite. Their news reporting, both locally and nationally, is standard issue liberal garbage.

Most conservatives stopped subscribing to the newspaper years ago, so a boycott would be futile. Declining revenues from advertising will kill this liberal rag in time, as is the case with other daily newspapers.
