Brown University cops will no longer report race of wanted suspects

Police officers at Brown University are no longer including the race of criminal suspects when announcing crimes, after an outcry from Brown students who said the practice stigmatized certain groups.

The policy was first implemented a year ago, but was only publicized Wednesday by The Brown Daily Herald. Including a suspect’s race is often harmful because “vague descriptions can reinforce stereotypes,” causing hostility towards some community members, according to police chief Mark Porter.

To solve the problem, Brown police are making the descriptions even vaguer, including only the suspect’s age, sex, build, and general appearance (sans skin color).

The shift fulfills a demand from some Brown students who called for it while the school was hammering out its $165 million “Pathways to Diversity and Inclusion” action plan.

Gender is probably also verboten.

Unless they establish a hot line so the perp. can anonymously self declare.

“Ok. Can you report nostril size instead?”

Of course. “The fleeing suspect had brown eyes, kinked black hair, a flat wide nose and flaired nostrils. He/she also was heard to threaten, “Ah kill you, mutha f*ckuh”.

So you see, descriptions of skin color or ethnic origins is insensitive and entirely not necessary.

You idiots! ALL descriptions stigmatized certain groups.

It is just terrible to describe someone as a 'male' as it is to describe someone as 'black'. It stereotypes males as being criminals more often than females.

A woman who is raped should NEVER describe her attacker as a male. It stigmatizes men. /s

BROWN, I demand that you change your name.

This "BROWN" is NOT inclusive. What about Red, Black, Yellow, White, Tan, Pink, Off-white, Coffee, Tea, Milk, Mauve, Smoke, Mud, Sand, Clay, Dirt, Flesh, the famous Purple and Polka Dot, etc.?

It is ridiculous that you identify yourself by a color but you won't let anyone describe anyone else with a color.

Haven't you people noticed this hypocrisy all these years? Wake up and smell the non-specified life forms.

"Officer, a person stole my wallet!"

"You, (if I may use that identifyalizerization without offendifyingalizating), if you (if I may use that identifyalizerization without offendifyingalizating) are, please let me (I am OK with that identifierization) know and I (I am OK with that identifierization) are under arrest for using the specification 'person.'

This can be offensivialization and stereotypificationing and stigmatizationalizioning.

Come along with me (I am OK with that identifierization)."

There will be additional charges for using the term "my," a specificational possessivitationalism.

The suspect possessed what witnesses would later describe as a “power tan”.
