We get all outraged because of a multi-million dollar finale, but pay attention to the fact that her lawyer offered Target a $12,000 settlement, probably enough to pay for her treatment and other medical and legal fees.

It's likelier that the $12,000 would have paid for the lawyer's new suit, with enough left over for a band aid for the woman who was stuck.

In most accident settlement cases, the lawyer gets 1/3, so he would have made an easy $4000. If she had a $5,000 deductible on her medical, then the other $8,000 would have covered her medical bills (the meds for a possible HIV infection a very expensive as is any treatment at a clinic or ER.)

It wasn’t an unreasonable settlement.
