When Mechagodzilla first showed up, he looked like Godzilla. Godzilla beat the flesh off of him and revealed a metal body. During the fight, bits of metal came off of MG. I think the same thing is happening with Mechahillary.
I love that movie.
Except for the Planet of the Apes aliens. That was kinda dumb.
