In its lawsuit to get Republican Donald Trump removed from Minnesota ballots, the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party has a high mountain to climb ...

The Democrats are trying to knock Donald Trump off the ballot on a technicality, viz., that the State Central Committee of the Republican Party of Minnesota - and not the state convention - named the alternate Electors of the Electoral College.

The provision of alternates was a relatively recent change in the law, and the Republicans didn't provide the same at the convention. When they found out that they needed alternates, the State Central Committee did the job, exercising powers the convention gave to it, or so the Republicans say.

The courts have never allowed a technical violation (assuming this is a technical violation) prevent either major party from placing the names of its candidates on the ballot, whether Republican or Democrat. Plus, the Democrats waited too late to object - their own technical violation - as the ballots are already being printed and absentee ballots are already being mailed out.

There's a flip side to this: with each passing day it becomes ever more difficult to swap out one candidates name (Hillary Clinton, for example), and put a replacement candidate in. Thus, bigger picture, the Democrats are effectively stuck with their Her Illness. Even if the Democratic National Committee were to replace her in the next week or so, her name would still be on many, if not most or even all ballots.

How about we knock Minnesota’s star off the U.S. flag?

Their side uses the laws for toilet paper.

Our side must obey them to the letter.

They have yt to explain why nthaving “alternate” electors elected at the proper time, should result,in the party’s presidential candidate from, appearing on the ballot.

The rules are rules people fail to recognize the rules in places do not call for this to occur if such a mistake is made. One cannot say rules are rules here. There is no such penalty in existence in the rules.

Thats why they are trying to score a political, victory via a judge, on a technical mistake that was corrected as soon as it was discovered.

I was thinking the same thing. So there are no alternates. 98% of the time they are unnecessary.

The DFL petition says that Simon[Minnesota Secretary of State], a DFLer, erred when he accepted the state GOP’s “certificate of nomination” for the Trump-Pence ticket.

If thats true, then why is the remedy to remove Trump-Pence name off the ballots. Its Simon's mistake. Makes no sense.

Does anyone know why the Republican Party did not know about this recent change in the law at the time of the convention?

Minnesota is so dark blue it doesn’t matter a whit. It will just make the dems look bad so let them do it.

To: Redmen4ever; All

as a “deplorable” Minnesota voter, will I be able to write him in if the lawsuit is successful?

That said, I have only lived in MN for 5 years, and find the “polyticks” here very confusing. But, from what little I know, I have to wonder if those at the top of the leftist party are very worried about losing the vote of those up in the northern part of the state, where the mining industry is essential.

Then I wonder about how Jesse Ventura took the state way back before I arrived here, and consider the possibility that the DFL is worried about something similar happening in November.

Maybe, maybe not, but it does seem peculiar for such a solid blue state, controlled by dems to be trying to get Trump (may his name be praised) off the ticket by a legal technicality. They must be afraid of something?

If the democrats replace Hillary then just think of all the state ballot laws they will be expecting to violate.

"How about we knock Minnesota's star off the U.S. flag?"

Not a bad idea. Minnesota is statistically probably the major state in the union operating clandestinely as a recruitment center for Islamic extremists.

One large area in Minneapolis is called "Little Mogadishu"....it's the center of our nation's largest concentration of Somali Islamists.

The Minnesota Democrat-Farmers-Labor Party is just a fancy, misleading name for "Socialist Party".

This is the state that gave us world-class goofs like Al Franken, Jesse Ventura and Paul Wellstone....and was the first state to send a Muslim to Congress.

The old socialist Scandinavian and German families that settled the state are historically level-headed folks till they approach the voting booth.....then all bets are off.

This is where they will cast their votes for Hillary whom they picture in their minds as the re-incarnation of FDR and the New Deal.

They will sing "Happy Days are Here Again" as they wend their ways home from voting.

Yesterday’s N.Y. event, the fainting, may take a “new” turn of politics???

I don't know if the events of yesterday will make the Minnesota voters less goofy...I doubt it....unless we see a big negative upheaval in Hillary's campaign in the next couple of weeks, healthwise or otherwise.

Those Minnesotans who voted for Al Franken, Ventura and Wellstone will probably never become un-goofy.

I believe Clinton's followers in that socialist state would vote for her even if she was in a coma.

She is protected by a Praetorian Guard of staff and media warriors and it's going to be fascinating to see them in action....they are already on TV today surrounding her with spears, punditry, lies and cover-ups as they swarm to her defense.
