'Believe me': People say Trump's language is affecting political discourse 'bigly'
LA Times ^ | 9/13/2016 | Lisa Mascaro

f all the rules of politics that Donald Trump has broken in his run for the White House, his way with words may top the list.

Perhaps not since Sarah Palin gave Americans her tossed-word salads has a candidate’s speech pattern been so debated, celebrated and mocked.

But Trump is more than just a free-style rambler. Experts say he employs a very deliberate, effective communications approach unlike any other presidential candidate in memory.

The Trumpisms — “Believe me,” “People say,” “Sad!” — have become so well known they are the subject of spoofs. But like a savvy salesman or break-through advertising campaign, Trump’s techniques carry a quiet power.

Scott Adams of Dilbert comic fame thought that would happen by October.

He’s off a month! Trump is running with no visible opposition.

Hillary’s surrogates can’t make up for the fact she isn’t there.

“Not all guys from Queens are worth $10 billion”

Which is definitely something to fall down the stairs about.

I’m can’t wait until Trump tells Khomeni and the like to ‘go piss up a rope’.

Trump can never top some of Slick Willy’s expressions, such as “it all depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is”, and “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky”.

How about this one:” Hillary is healthier than Trump!” That is what Bill Clinton said in an interview a few hours ago.

President Trump will govern in a way that permits the AMERICAN PEOPLE to again MAKE AMERICA GREAT.

Thank you. That's exactly right. Or at least, it bloody well better be.

We the People made America great, not our elected servants. They serve best when they get the heck out of the way.

Or their software needs to be replaced. That stuff often seems to hear what it wants.

Besides, we know the word would be “Yuge-ly”. :-)

I laughed my ass off when Bill said this. He obviously went off script and had not checked the news. he challenged Trump to disclose his Medical Records - A FULL DAY after Trump had announced he just had a physical and would release the results later this week.

Yeah. He is who he is: a guy from Queens.

I have generally found New Yorkers obnoxious throughout my lifetime, and I have generally disliked Donald Trump since I first learned of him in the 1980’s.

I readily embraced him as a candidate, and eagerly voted for him in the primary.

My personal likes and dislikes are totally irrelevant to the salvation of this nation.

Bill keep them coming with his comment: “She’s worked like a demon, as you know, as secretary of state and as a senator and in the years since.” LOL

Awesome post. I feel almost exactly the same - the NY brashness doesn't play well with us Midwestern types who tend to avoid confrontation and conflict. But like you, I eagerly embraced Mr. Trump as a candidate and openly advocated for him in the primary.

BTW, thanks for the new tagline - pretty much says it all!

Speaking style has nothing to do with how a person works.

Well, “worked like a demon...” is probably accurate, considering who he’s describing. He may not understand how accurate he is. It’s not a simile.

I thought I’d point out and document a few of the false statements in this article, but there were just too many. I have better things to do with my time.
