There’s actually some REALLY COOL Iranians. I’ve met some extraordinarily smart and personable Iranians, people who I really liked and admired. (OTOH, I’ve met some real scumbags, namely an Air Force guy in the Shah’s military back in the day before the Shah was deposed. Guy was dumber than a box of bricks and slimmier than a bucket of eels.)
I felt bad for the Iranians that started a protest against their government, a lot of them wanted a secular, more western culture, and of all the protesters in the ME, Obama totally ignored them.

A few years ago, I went to a conference and one of the speakers was an active duty IDF colonel.
He showed videos (some mildly classified) showing the lengths Israel went to to spare innocents. And how barbaric the jihadists were, hiding in crowds of children etc.
He said at the end that Iran was their best hope for some kind of peace, Not the rulers of course but the people. Not sure if that is the case now.
