“the best chance of saving the nation in the long run is to avoid elevating Trump to president and leader of the party because he could forever destroy conservatism and the Republican brand.”

Using that logic, and given its past piss-poor performance, one could say the best chance of saving the nation in the long run is to avoid electing republicans to the congress.

There is, of course, virtually no chance of saving America in the long-run, if we do not stop the flood over our Southern border, of millions who have no interest, whatsoever, in preserving the values of the Founding Fathers. America is not an abstraction; but a particular people with particular proclivities, images & purposes.

This is not to demean anyone else. But to encourage a flood into our midst of those who hate our particular proclivities, is hardly a way to honor or preserve the America our politicians have sworn to uphold.

I care not how pompous the faux Conservatives, who carry water for the Leftwing theorists, may be; how they prance around trying to justify the most arrant stupidity. In their demonstrated folly, they abdicate any claim on our respect or deference.
