I am disappointed with what Megan did... She is a good player...

US soccer federation released the statement...It did not approve of Megan not standing up... Head coach Jill Ellis expressed the same view...

Colin K does not play for Team USA. But, Megan R does play for Team USA. Megan R should resign from the national team if she felt so strongly that US is a terrible country.

If she resigned, she would stop getting paid by US soccer... I guess Megan is not angry enough to quit a nice job playing soccer, representing US...

I think standing up for national anthem should be mandatory for national team members...Athletes, who don't like that, should be kicked out of the national team...

I do not think the US soccer federation would dismiss Megan from the national team. It has to worry about gay lobby...Remember she is a lesbian. US federation does not want to be called anti-gay for firing Megan R...

When US soccer dismissed Hope Solo from the team, it did not have to worry about the gay lobby...Hope Solo is not a lesbian...

I have followed the US women's national team ever since the Rose Bowl game against China...That was the Women's World Cup final...

I even attended women's professional games...I talking about WPS days...

I think I will not watch games of USWNT as long as Megan is still part of the team...

It would be nice if many conservative soccer moms would write to US soccer federation and complain...

By the way, Tim Howard supported what Colin K did...He is the goalkeeper for US Mens' Team. However, Howard would not sit during national anthem...I guess, like Colin, Tim thinks that US is a horrible country...But, he would still show respect for national anthem...

US Coach Klinsmann said that he would not punish any player for not standing up for national anthem...Klinsmann is in charge of the men's team...

It’s a shame that people don’t honor the flag for the ideals it stands for and for the sacrifices made for those ideals. No country on this planet has had a perfectly noble past. I doubt that they will kneel or turn their backs on the flags of other countries next time they play a foreign team.

What if everyone kneeled and we made that the new thing?
Like kneeling before the monarchy.
It takes more effort to kneel.

How many soccer players have been shot by police?
Kneel down to protest ok, try kneeling down to pray and see all the screams of religion invading their safe place.

Make America look bad during the anthem, and you’re fired! I’m sick of these sports idiots! Who needs them?

I saw some comments from this Megan Rapinoe when this story hit the news a few weeks ago.

She sounds as dumb as a post. She makes Colin Kaepernick sound like a brain surgeon.

Klinsmann is an @sshole, if that's the case.

Any good coach of a national team would bench one of his players for sitting during the national anthem of an opposing country's national team. No real coach would tolerate that kind of disrespect and poor sportsmanship. And you certainly hold your players to AT LEAST the same standard when it comes to the U.S. national anthem.

I guess that's what you get when you hire a foreigner to coach your national team.

To quote Stern making fun of Seinfeld, “who are these people?”. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, that is a good thing, mostly.

If you are on thr national team, you represent this nation to the world. It is similar to being a diplomat. Rapinoe should be dropped from the national team. Solo was suspended for making an inappropriate statement. What is the difference?

I hope this is the end of any endorsements she might have or obtain in the future. As for athletic endorsements in general, why pay any athlete to endorse a product? Give the money to a local youth sports group and show them cheering the product.

I would think the attitude of the coach would be: you are representing this country and that means you honor the flag. If not, we’ll get some one else.

If the coach doesn’t think so - get a new coach.
