Race tightens in projected U.S. Electoral College vote: Reuters/Ipsos

NEW YORK (Reuters) - An election analysis conducted in the Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project shows that the race has tightened considerably over the past few weeks, with Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump projected to win Florida, an essential battleground state, if the election were held today.

The project, which is based on a weekly tracking poll of more than 15,000 Americans, shows that the 2016 presidential race could end in a photo finish on Nov. 8, with the major-party candidates running nearly even in the Electoral College, the body that ultimately selects the president.

The States of the Nation project, which delivers a weekly tally of support for the candidates in every state, shows that the race has tightened in several traditional battlegrounds. Pennsylvania has been moved from a likely win for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton to a tossup; Ohio has been moved from a tossup to a likely win for Clinton. And Florida is now considered a likely win for the Republican nominee, with 50 percent support for Trump to 46 percent support for Clinton.

If the election were held today, the project estimates that Clinton has a 60 percent chance of winning by 18 electoral votes. Last week, the project estimated that Clinton had a 83 percent chance of winning the election.

In a separate national Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll, Clinton continues to lead Trump by 4 percentage points, and her recent bout with pneumonia doesn't appear to have scared away her supporters.

Agreed. Ohio is looking solid.

I'm ready to see a more polling from Penn, Colorado, and Michigan.

Wisconsin wouldn't hurt, either.

Also, New England, which is the sleeper region.

“Hope that makes sense.”
LOL! Yeah, and it’s informative.
But if the poll was presented in a normal way it would be a snap to just cut and paste the data.

The stories last week suggested that Republican Rob Portman is running very strong in the Ohio Senate race for a seat that the Democrats considered a likely pickup. I can’t imagine a scenario where Portman wins in Ohio and Trump loses.

Not at this point. The rats are in full panic as demonstrated by yesterday’s shenanigans. That too is blowing up in their faces.

Exactly. Maine will vote for Trump. Connecticut is also a sleeper. I’m nearly certain NH will vote Trump. Trump is just beginning the consolidation.

Anyone know about this strategy of polling?

It was obviously a filtered poll, seeking minority voter data only. You can bet that whoever presented the results of that poll didn't include that bit of information in the methodology description.

Whenever I get those automated telephone polling calls, I answer "creatively". I know they're all lying to me when they publish results, so I'm just returning the favor.

This analysis doesn’t make sense - Pennsylvania moves toward Trump but Ohio toward Clinton at the same time?

Dom't treat polls as some sacrosact scientific measurement. They're at best published for entertainment and drive viewership.

Here's why.. It's an online poll.. Absolute garbage....

Just curious, in all previous elections, almost everyone discounted online polls, especially us on FR... Why did these online polls gain legitimacy this cycle? I still think it's total garbage.

It makes all the sense in the world if the polling is slanted.

Anyone know about this strategy of polling?

I answered as a Black Female when the pollster’s called me in NC and then answered with conservative responses.

On the other thread, I explained how I “unscrewed” it to make it work.

I reversed the name ID.

Trump has 42%, Hillary with 38% and Trump has moved into the lead since the last poll!

Now it all falls into place.

What you have here is a simple name mistake with the data.

Wouldn’t be the first time its happened in the history of polling.

It shows Hillary is performing far worse than any Democratic presidential candidate in modern times. That’s with 38% national vote as confirmed in various state polls.

Hillary is done.

This might not come as a surprise to some here but I'm going to say it anyway: Crooked Hillary absolutely HATES the fact that Trump has caught up to her in the Electoral College and is primed to pull away with the victory.

She HATES it!

She HATES it!

She HATES it!

I cannot stress that point enough. Crooked Hillary and her tiny inner circle of freaks, marxists and anti-American scum absolutely HATE the fact that Donald J. Trump is about to ascend to the presidency.

And there is absolutely NOTHING she can do about it!

The next 6-8 weeks is going to be a rocket ride for Donald Trump and his millions upon millions of supporters and the course of U.S. history will be unalterably changed forever - and for the better.
