Charlottesville VA is also the site of the U.S. Army JAG School & Center. It’s next door to the UVA Law School & is at the far end of the UVA Grounds.
In 2002 I saw a young woman of Middle Eastern appearance seated on the ground outside the JAG school building while intently sketching it. I reported this to the staff duty officer & it was investigated. Not the first time as it turned out & I was thanked for doing so.
Nowadays I would have been written up for Islamophobia.
