"The New York City Police Department said the explosion in Chelsea Saturday night that injured dozens of people was "definitely" a bomb, with components indicative of an IED being found at the blast site."
NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill said investigators are working to determine the motivation behind the bombing and find out who did it. He described the multi-agency effort as a "very complex post-blast investigation."
"We definitely had a bombing last night on 23rd Street and we had a suspicious device on 27th Street," O'Neill said.

Yes, this ponderous `persons of interest’ prudence is carried to ludicrous extremes. If they would just say, “Yeah, another pot bomb, for now it looks like Islamic extremists and we’re hunting them” instead of `Hmmmm, who could it be?’

I want to hear what happened to that Central Park bomb case. That guy had his foot blown off. There must have been some security cameras somewhere.

It’s just terrorism. Thank goodness it’s not international terrorism. Where do we draw these borders? When the jihadi has lived here legally for 14 years, is it national or international (St. Cloud stabbings)? Please, NYT, post a glossary for us so we know which Islamic terrorisms injure worse, international, national, and the difference between the two.

I was thinking of that myself recently. I was also wondering what ever became of that lady in Vegas who ran down all those pedestrians outside the Miss America Pageant.
There was a synagogue not far from there with a memorial service for Elie Wiesel that day, right around that time. That trail (I read at the time) was well used by rock climbers and trail walkers. I never read about any surveillance cameras at that spot, but if there were, they didn’t say.
