George H.W. Bush to vote for Hillary

A Kennedy outs a Bush who favors a Clinton.

Former President George H.W. Bush is bucking his party's presidential nominee and plans to vote for Hillary Clinton in November, according to a member of another famous political family, the Kennedys.

Bush, 92, had intended to stay silent on the White House race between Clinton and Donald Trump, a sign in and of itself of his distaste for the GOP nominee. But his preference for the wife of his own successor, President Bill Clinton, nonetheless became known to a wider audience thanks to Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, the former Maryland lieutenant governor and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy.

Story Continued Below

On Monday, Townsend posted a picture on her Facebook page shaking hands next to the former president and this caption: "The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!”

In a telephone interview, Townsend said she met with the former president in Maine earlier today, where she said he made his preference known that he was voting for a Democrat. “That’s what he said,” she told POLITICO. BushHillaryPic.jpg

Asked about Townsend’s post, George H.W. Bush spokesman Jim McGrath in an email replied, "The vote President Bush will cast as a private citizen in some 50 days will be just that: a private vote cast in some 50 days. He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim."

George H.W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush have stayed out of the political debate since campaigning earlier this year for their son Jeb's unsuccessful bid for president. Neither George H.W. Bush nor his son, former President George W. Bush, attended this summer's Republican National Convention in Cleveland where Trump accepted the nomination. 09_hillary_clinton_17_gty_1160.jpg

Many former GOP officials from both Bush administrations have also announced their support for Clinton over Trump, including national security adviser Brent Scowcroft and former Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez.

One Bush official who has taken Trump's side is former Vice President Dan Quayle, who told POLITICO in an interview this summer he was still holding out hope both Bushes would back Trump. "Clearly in their heart of hearts I should hope they would want a Republican president, but they can speak for themselves," Quayle said in an interview in July.

I can forgive a lot, but unless the Bush family comes out and denies this report I don’t think I’ll ever be able to vote for a candidate with the last name of Bush again.

Sad. We had hoped that he learned something, serving under Ronald Reagan. But this clearly takes him back to being the candidate of the cloudborne Republicans, day dreaming about New World Orders, and embarrassed less they appear to be overly patriotic.

It is also sad in that he has apparently lost enough of any perceptive quality he may once have had, in not seeing how stupid this will make him appear, if it becomes generally well known. There is no rational basis to vote for someone as corrupt as Mrs. Clinton.

Piss poor move by 41.

Now the truth comes out. He lost me when he partnered with the rapist to screw Haiti.

I think the Rafael Cruz/Lee Harvey Oswald thing probably did not give Poppy a warm and fuzzy for Trump either.

...and when we are successful, and we will be...

GHWB speaking of the New World Order.

Ironically, the Bush family is grooming yet another Bush here in Texas. George P. Bush.

Never ever ever another Bush....Ever.

Imagine what would have happened if Reagan chose an equally conservative VP... Whole different country (for the better)

“This election isn’t democrat vs. Republican. It is globalist vs. nationalist. Of course the Bushes would vote for globalism.”

That is the bottom line. Everything else falls under this umbrella. All the European peoples grapple with the same struggle. We must prevail. Globalists are the most dangerous threat to the human species since Marxism, to which it is closely related.

Reagan knew who 41 was that's why he fought against having him on the ticket in the 1st place.

If Jeb were smart he would separate himself from this and endorse Trump and honor the signed pledge. But he will not and go down hoping for a comeback.

But we remembered the Swift-boat which killed Kerry's chance and we will remember the yellow back Jeb who didn't back is pledge to endorse!

Of course he is. The Clintons and Bushes are just one big happy family. A New World Order, globalist loving family.

Much worse than that. W spent 8 years getting attacked by the left and the media, NEVER fighting back. As a result, he helped decimate the Republican, and by extension, the conservative brand.

THAT's his legacy

“Should Trump win, we will have the first America first President since January 19, 1989.”
GHW Bush was inaugurated that day in 1989.....you must be referring to Inauguration Day 1981! ;)

###########

I am referencing Ronald Reagan’s last full day in office.

Since then we have only had globalist presidents, distinguishable only by the details and pungency of their stink.

“Just get it over with and die already, George. You’re over due. All those Reagan appointees you fired will giggle with delight.”

No. Let him live long enough to watch his political and familial dynasties dismembered and dissolved, to see his entire life’s efforts come to nothing.

That is Completely true.
His silence served no one but democrats and our enemies.
He bewildered and demoralized many true conservatives who tried to defend / support his presidency.
Never understood why he didn’t respond to repeated lies about no WND’s in Iraq, when there was repeated discovery of Scud nerve / Sarin gas warheads, and convoys of banned weapons sent to Syria in early 2003 before the war.

What we always knew: Bush family are close bedfellows with the Clintons. Any animosity was mere managed opposition.

There's no surprise here, except for the fact that GHWB is making official what he and the rest o the GOP establishment have been doing covertly. Loyal opposition means that you accept the basic premises of your so-called opponent's ideology while making trivial disagreements over the details. That has described every GOP nominee from 1988 on.
