Kasick had his chance in 2000. I remember in the 90’s he was considered a big “conservative” at the time- one of those “budget hawks” and “deficit” types with the like of Dick Armey.

There were rumors that Kasich ran with Cong. Gary Condit (D-CA), along with Joe Scarborough (R-FL). Both Condit and Scarborough ended up having to explain the dead body of a young lady...and Kasich chose to resign.
