I just heard the police chief say he wasn’t releasing the video that shows the weapon until he’d had a chance to show it to the family.
I disagree. The family notification has already taken place.
Sensitivity to a family’s grief should not override the need to control a riot, stop looting, and prevent further deaths.

I have been advocating restraint when it comes to conclusions here regarding what happened based upon what you have noted and “Channel 9 obtained an image from the scene of the shooting that shows a gun on the ground near Scott’s feet as officers stood around him. “sourcing”.. who took the pic? If the police then I cry foul especially given that it was well after the fact. See the yellow tape. Also it appears that the gun is located far from the scene of the incident itself (not sure).
