Flashback: President George HW Bush Oval Office Speech on 1992 LA Riots
Video via YouTube ^ | May 1, 1992

"What we saw last night and the night before in Los Angeles is not about civil rights. It's not about the great cause of equality that all Americans must uphold. It's not a message of protest. It's been the brutality of a mob, pure and simple. And let me assure you: I will use whatever force is necessary to restore order. What is going on in L.A. must and will stop. As your President I guarantee you this violence will end...

"...In a civilized society, there can be no excuse, no excuse for the murder, arson, theft, and vandalism that have terrorized the law-abiding citizens of Los Angeles...

"...The wanton destruction of life and property is not a legitimate expression of outrage with injustice. It is itself injustice. And no rationalization, no matter how heartfelt, no matter how eloquent, can make it otherwise."

Setting that aside for the moment the recent story about private comments he reportedly made about the current election...this serves to illustrate the point of contrasting this kind of response to rioting and total chaos vs. how the Obama administration has handled the current situations and just allow the nation to tear itself apart - even expressing tepid support for the rioting that is taking place and doing nothing to confront and end the chaos. Unifying words were stated in the speech, but it also made it abundantly clear that the behavior of the rioters was not acceptable and would not be tolerated. If these current situations were handled like this, we'd have a lot better handle on this mindless chaos that does not have to be happening - what is going on is not peaceful assembly.

Love him or hate him, Bush the Elder was the last real President this nation has had. Then came three crooks and stooges.

I have despised him ever since he had those cops prosecuted.
I know they don’t consider it double jeopardy but it obviously is.

Actually I thought they were guilty too until I watched the trial and saw the video in slow motion.

The Bushes are simply country club republicans. Insiders who put their own prejudices ahead of what is right.

“Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective – a New World Order – can emerge. . . Now, we can see a New World Order coming into view. A world in which there is a very real prospect for a New World Order. . .A world where the United Nations, freed from a Cold War stalemate, is poised to fulfill the historic vision of its founders.” —George H. Bush- Address Before a Joint Session of Congress (September 11, 1990)

Sarah, if the American people had ever known the truth about what we Bushes have done to this nation, we would be chased down in the streets and lynched.” — George H.W. Bush to reporter Sarah McClendon in 1992

I am no fan of Bush the Elder. He was weak and indecisive in so many ways. But yes, you are correct. After him came crooks and stooges.

Well, isn’t that interesting. If you left-click too long, you get a double post. Old dogs still can learn new tricks.

Thanks. Amazing speech.

Only makes Obama's response to our current woes appear all that much more depressing, frustrating, and maddening.

I remember the rioters smashed the windows of Davison’s Department Store on Peachtree Street in Atlanta.

But Freaknik, the annual black college spring break, was worse.

As yarddog pointed out, Bush the elder brought an outrageous double-jeopardy civil rights lawsuit against the police officers in California. It was inexcusable. Unforgivable.

WRONG! This duplicitous bass turd spent what was thankfully only one term, doing all he could to undo all that RR had accomplished. I look forward to his obituary.

That second quote is a fabrication, the first is multiple sentences spread out across a very long speech chopped and segmented together to say something entirely different - and some of those words are not in the speech at all - essentially another complete fabrication. And of course neither has anything to do with the subject of this thread. So what is the point of posting something that is both verifiably false to begin with, let alone not related to the subject at hand?

Yes indeed...those two Clinton SCOTUS appointments have been very good for us over years.

What a joke! Along with others, it was Bush’s illegals by the thousands who also joined in on the looting/mayhem.

No, Reagan was the last real President we had. HW Bush sowed the seeds for the sorry state the Republican party fell into in the 90’s and still hasn’t recovered from.

Start here for your research. http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=18820

This quote explains to one and all that Bush is a Globalist and a UN supporter which means he cannot be for the US Constitution, no matter what his followers insist on.
