< Trump's appeal to voters thus far exists at their own common sense, gut level understanding of the consequences of liberal/progressive policies and actions imposed upon them in recent years by Hillary Clinton and her fellow ideologues.

This is an important lesson I learned from a Senator when was on a radio talk show back in the 90's. I was trying to sound knowledgeable and proficient in my subject matter - privacy concerns in the initial age. The senator just spoke in laymen's terms and from his heart. Well guess who was the more interesting fellow to listen to on playback? I learned a good lesson that day which has stayed with me. I think Trump knows this and will use it to his advantage.

Thanks. Recently came across the following Tocqueville quotation which may be appropriate here:

“Despotism alone can provide that atmosphere of secrecy which favors crooked dealing and enables the freebooters of finance to make illicit fortunes.” ― Alexis de Tocqueville, The Old Regime and the French Revolution

Perhaps a gauge of how far the American Republic has come from its basis in liberty.

Trump not only “knows” it, with him it is instinctive. He will always have the right demeanor and the right words for the occasion. I quit second guessing him when I realized that all those “gaffes” that made me cringe boosted his support. I quit cringing and watched, instead for how the folks were being drawn to him.
