That was always the joke. That qualifier clearly indicated that he was referring to the unhinged leftists that were sending and posting threatening comments.
Clinton's estate tax was the final straw. I suspect that Scott has done quite well, with licensing, books, syndication, and speeches. Although, he has said that his speaking income has dropped about 40% since he started posting blog articles that were favorable to Trump.
