Shreveport police are investigating posts to a large neighborhood watch group suggesting recent car break-ins are reason to watch young, black men or teens,

Sounds prudent, to here

and even for so-called “vigilante justice.”

Logical conclusion, forbidden words.

Sure. The watch members provide accurate descriptions (including race, sex, age, and clothing) of people engaging in suspicious activity or behavior, but what they don’t do is report the presence in the neighborhood of all blacks, Latinos, Asians, etc. That seems to be what the NO watch group is urging.

Oops; Shreveport watch group, not New Orleans.

“that neighbors report suspicious behavior or activity, not suspicious persons.”

Like a dog peeing on your lawn? :-)

PC madness!

My old home town. You can bet there are black folks who live in Broadmoor who are OK with this watch group.

You misunderstand my post. The watch group reports suspicious behavior or activity by any person, accurately described, not the mere presence of a subset of the population some might inherently characterize as suspicious.

Lots of neighborhoods are getting organized with social media apps. Some of them are even set up by the police (Nextdoor).

But you can use yahoo groups, facebook, groupme and probably hundreds of others.

The PC police are not going to be able to police what neighbors are saying to each other on their own devices in numerous apps. The police-police aren’t either.

People are taking their safety seriously and not waiting around for the police. There never were enough police anyway to PREVENT crime. That’s not the majority of what they do anyway. Police react to crime ... after the fact.

It is up to people, groups of people and neighborhoods to provide information to each other about things they see going on in their neighborhoods.

By the way, this has always been the case. The only thing different now is new technology which makes transfer of information faster.

PC police who want to police what people SAY to each other are in a losing battle.
