The presidential debate moderators will not be allowed to wear earpieces, according to published reports.
But what about the presidential candidates themselves?
A voter in Maryland wrote Federal Elections Commissioner Matthew Petersen on Sept. 8 seeking a "clear response" to that question.
"I read reports that during the televised event questioning each of the candidates on their qualifications to serve as Commander in Chief, that Secretary Clinton had a microphone in her ear to receive prompting and guidance from advisers off stage," wrote Laurence B of Columbia, MD.
[A check of his name and address at the Maryland State Board of Elections Internet site verified the writer's identity as a registered voter.]
"Surely this is a more serious violation of competition than the doping which the Olympics have had to clean up. ... Can you please confirm that your commission will take conclusive steps to ensure that no such cheating takes place during the debates?" the letter concluded.
When he received no response to his letter, he wrote again on Sept. 21: "I've got to say I'm really discouraged not to have received a confirmation from you or from your office that your policy will be to disallow the two candidates to wear ear microphones. Am I to interpret your lack of a response to mean that such behavior will, indeed be accepted?"

They have their marching orders ...destroy trump and make Hillary look more superior smarter intellectual and presidential! While the mediawhores will ask Trump questions or shall I say more like an interrogation of a criminal , you have made racist remarks again Hispanic and Muslims do you hate them? You’ve made sexist remarks against women will you stand by your words! You say you will deport 20 million illegals do you still stand by that promise? What will do with the children born here from illegals.... And on and on it’ll go! Bank on it it’s all about degrading Trump while elevating hitlery! I guarantee you this is going to be framed as an interrogation of a criminal.....the Republicans never learn..I wish they would turn down debates unless they have mediators who are conservative as well. A "mic" is a microphone. It converts audio to electronic or electrical signals for recording, amplification or other processes.
You speak INTO it.
An "earpiece", or headphone, etc., receives a signal and converts it to audio for the person wearing it to listen to.
I have never heard of, or seen anybody sticking a mic in their ear.
But then, this was probably written by a typical stupid, ignorant "journalist" that also believes an E-STOP button is a "reset" Button.

Plus, who wants to listen to her ear?
Yeah, if she start doing the chicken on stage, that’ll be Trump associates sending high pitch 160 decibels into her ear. Or maybe playing ‘it’s a small world after all’ into her brainbox? How about the old 60s tune, ‘Silence is golden’!
To be honest, I didn't even think that far into it before the Emily Litella idea came to me. But you're right.

But I agree with you - I think it’s going to make her look tentative. I’ve seen videos where she seemed to be using something like that, and she was very stilted and constantly pausing in an unnatural way.
Ya never know, maybe Hillary’s server tech spooks will put the microphone in her hear and they’ll set up with the receiver. They’ll be able to hear Hillary moaning and gowning under her breath.
Considering the caliber of IT people she seems to hire, who knows?
They will say, ear “mics’ are not allowed.... of course these devices are speakers and not Mics and they will say... Well we told you that mics are not allowed, not speakers....
Hard to tell. She wore white, or off-white for the Convention. Maybe she’ll wear black.
