The basic message of the “thin blue line” is that cops will cover for each other when they break the law.

Is this your own straw man?

If not, that is according to whom?

That has never been my understanding.

All my life, among normal people, it defined or represents the thin line between order or safety and chaos.
Easily broken by determined thugs.

Actually, that’s not normal at all. That’s a dependency, nanny-state mindset.

If I were you, I’d take a gander at the 2nd Amendment and ponder the meaning of the militia being necessary to the security of a free state, and the role of cops in that context.

The true line between chaos and order is the ability and willingness of the people to be capable of self-defense.

Any place that needs the police to be the final line of defense is already lost.

Watching the FBI be caught rigging investigations to keep Clinton indictment-free is probably not the best time to express unreserved faith in government law enforcement employees. There is deep corruption throughout the land and the powers of law enforcement particularly attract those intent on abusing them.
