On debate day, Wall Street wakes up to possibility of a Trump win (Really!?)
CNBC ^ | 9/26/2016 | Jeff Cox

The forecasts for a Trump win, though, aren't as extreme as might be expected.

In fact, several strategists believe a Trump presidency might not bring about radical change, despite the New York businessman's pledge to revamp long-established trade deals, slash taxes for businesses and individuals and demolish the government-run health-care program.

That's primarily because even in the scenario where the Republican prevails, the greater likelihood is that he'll have to deal with a divided Congress where it's difficult to push through major initiatives. Morgan Stanley analysts call this scenario "policy incrementalism" and believe that it's the most likely outcome regardless of who wins the presidency.

Why a divided Congress? From the poles I had seen recently it doesn’t look like the Dems are doing all that well in Senate race polling.

If Trump wins there will be significant coat tails imo.

I’m not going to give these people a pass anymore, these people who try to straddle the fence and not commit by knocking both candidates. The country’s situation is desperate.

______________

I bet the guy is voting for Trump. Being in business he cannot afford to take sides so he says something neutral.

The only ones doing good in this economy are pharmacists (they’re the ones who have two houses) or people working in health care (benefitting from Obamacare at the expense of the rest of society), and also bank employees (they’re the big deals who can afford to donate to their churches, the ones who hold managerial positions in banks and get on all the church committees. Ditto for schoolteachers and school administration people.) The little people in churches can’t get on the church committees as leaders, they’re not big-enough deals.) This is what I’m seeing, anyway.

There will be havoc in virtually every market if Trump wins, but it will only be temporary.

The obama/jarett scorched earth program will commence November 9th and take months to run it’s course. Every terror cell in the lower 48 will get their marching orders.

But they underestimate the Sleeping Giant. They’ll find out that the will to be free is stronger than the will to enslave.

Up from the ashes will rise a strong and free America, ready to be what we were always meant to be.

“I expect to MSM meme to shift to “even though Trump will win he will not have enough of a victory to have a mandate to implement his policies.”

Now Congress will suddenly matter after Obama has ignored the law and governed by whim. Presidents will be expected to abide by every rule again, as long as they are Republican presidents.

Which stage of denial/grieving is this?

I'll check my portfolio and get back to you on that.

The seven stages of grief are:
1) shock
2) denial
3) anger
4) bargaining
5) guilt
6) depression
7) acceptance.

I expect to MSM meme to shift to “even though Trump will win he will not have enough of a victory to have a mandate to implement his policies.”

Agreed. I'm torn between 2), 4) and 7).

Then again, they may begin endlessly looping through 1-7 when he wins. :-)

With just a dash of Nagasaki.

GOOD FOR HIM, I still didn’t buy anything from him. He didn’t have to phrase it in such a negative manner. He could’ve send, We’re living in interesting times, or, it’ll be something to watch, that’s for sure. When you call both sides ‘clowns’, you’re trying to depress the vote. If you’re voting for Trump and you say something like that, you’re a coward. If he wants to live with interest rates near zero and let the rest of us suffer, he won’t have me as a customer. I can’t afford to buy from him. BTW, if you ask crafters, sales are DOWN this season.

“The corrupt elitists don’t want change, but it certainly coming their way.”

Actually, I think small change is probably the likely result. It’s going to be hard to get 60 votes in the senate for anything significant.

OTOH, if HRC wins, we will be looking at rule by executive order and the change will be fast and furious.

Everyone is building Trump up for tonight so the “inevitable” collapse can be more pronounced.

I think the Establishment is in for a huge letdown.

Funny thing this article gets wrong is Trump is not only going to win, but at least all the polls I’ve seen odds are Republicans keep or gain seats in both houses... and that’s without figuring in Trump’s coat tails... where if by next week its obvious he’s winning and winning big, he gets to spend the whole month telling folks, vote for this guy or that guy because I will need as many people with me to roll back the corruption that is Washington DC.

Not if Trump actually has coattails and is so obviously in the lead he can spend October campaigning for down ticket folks.... 60 is not impossible, may not be highly likely, but not impossible

Yep, which is precisely why I tell people in blue states who say, “Well, my vote won’t count anyway so I will vote my conscience” for Johnson that they are undercutting Trump’s administration. I had one colleague say he hadn’t thought about that and is reconsidering.

It’s not only critical that we win more than a narrow victory, but that we win a majority of the popular vote.

Trump losing the debates is not that far out there. He’s facing an ultra liberal liar, with an ultra liberal moderator that has the power to determine the questions, the order, and time involved, and it is going to be broadcast on an ultra liberal station with a history of being willing to say anything to protect liberal politicians from anything to the point of lying. You may not get the truth from anybody as to who won, whether Trump did or not. But that’s how it will be presented to the populous. And we all know how the public thinks when they don’t have to. They don’t.
