had to get this off my chest...
I think all Trump needed to do was not look bad. I did not watch the debate either, but there did not seem to be any gotcha moments for Trump.
I didn’t watch. I gave up on debates after 2012 plus she is insufferable. My question to those who watched is will any of it even be remembered in a week? I don’t believe they do much to change outcomes of elections.
Some good points; I didn’t listen either but read the ongoing at FR thread which was quite informative. From what I gathered, Trump did well in the first half hour, then fell for the gambit of responding to the personal cuts that he should have expected and parried. The media will balloon this as a tremendous Hillary victory; many people tend to follow whatever trend is set for them by the media so I expect her to be up by 4-5 points in the polls in the coming week. My take on it is that if Trump had been better prepared and on point, he was ahead in the polls yesterday and could have put distance ahead of her. Now it is going to be a slog.
Trump did not understand the game last night. He did not understand how to spin Holt’s questions and put his best answers forward.
Nor did Trump redirect Clinton’s canned answers into an opportunity for him to bring out her scandals....emails, FBI investigation, Clinton foundation.
Understanding he isn’t a politician or a debater and relying on selling himself, in the game of politics this doesn’t fly.
Trump needs to quit worrying about Chelsea being in the audience, as he
just said on Fox this morning, and throw the kitchen sink at Clinton.
