Giuliani insisted the time has come for the US to “reject the whole notion of a two-state solution in Israel.”

Amen to that. Myths die hard.

In all fairness, this idiocy will not be solved by outsiders, because it is a “single player game.” Israel is in charge of its destiny, but only if it wants to “take charge”.

If Israel wants to continue to be the “Charlie Brown” of the world, it will continue to try and punt, yet have the ball taken away from it at the last minute, so it ends up sprawled on the ground.

So the best thing any American president can do is to tell Israel to quit being “wishy-washy”. If it wants peace in Gaza, but cannot stand to be cruel, then it should pay every Gazan to move to Egypt. It could *easily* afford to give every man, woman and child the equivalent of several times the Egyptian prevailing wage. Thus making every Palestinian family instantly Egyptian middle class.

And that would be the end of the Gaza problem. Otherwise, they should then bulldoze Gaza and leave it fallow, or even bulldoze it below sea level and let the sea cover the land to a depth of 25 feet. As long as it remains, the international community will demand letting more Paleos live there.

After doing that, oddly enough, the West Bank would likely become far more peaceful, not wanting a similar fate.

The Palestinians want their own state to launch a genocidal attack on Israel. They don’t even pretend their motives are otherwise, and a lot of the world is okay with that.

Israel should do whatever is in its best interest, but keep in mind the almost 3 million Arabs on the West Bank alone would immediately insist on full and equal rights should they be incorporated into Israel proper. That's not even counting the 1.8 million in Gaza. I can already hear the cry of 'apartheid' ratcheting up to a peak in every country in the West soon after if this were to happen. Then Israel is forced to give up its alliance with the West and cozy up to Russia and China.

Are they sure they want to risk this? Seems something short of a full blown state makes the most sense, some sort of semi-autonomous, non militarized territory might make more sense. But it's their choice, since they are the ones that will have to live with the consequences of whatever decision they make. The US really needs to stay out of that mess quite frankly.
