Until recently everyone in my family lived in New York or New Jersey. 2 still have homes in Northern NJ, 1 in Long Island, 1 in Manhattan. Everyone else fled to rural areas of neighboring states. It wasn’t the taxes so much as the crime rate.
The crime, and the fact that you have no option but to suck it up and call 911 if you’re able.
Here in PA, “911 is for cleanup.”
I have talked with a lot of NE migrants coming town here to Florida. For the most part they are moving to get away from Democrat taxation, regulation, etc. much more Conservative than the article would have you believe.
In Pennsylvania, we have the Castle Doctrine.
A home owner can kill any intruder who enters the home, for any reason whether the culprit is armed with a weapon or not.
Thugs who dare break into an occupied Pennsylvania home are literally risking their life. Knowing once they enter, they may never walk out alive.
