Republican Donald Trump was kept on the defensive at the first presidential debate, in several instances having to debate the highly anticipated event's moderator as well as his Democratic opponent.
Trump was challenged on his answers Monday night at Hofstra University in New York at least six times by NBC's Lester Holt, according to the Washington Examiner's count. Hillary Clinton, meanwhile was no follow-up questions for the 90-minute debate.
The debate was separated into three segments: "Achieving Prosperity," "America's Direction" and "Securing America."
In the first segment, Trump was asked about his reluctance to release his tax returns, which he has said he is unwilling to make public until a federal audit on them has been completed, an excuse he reiterated during the debate.
Again like I said last night. Everybody knows the media is biased. Did anyone expect anything different. It is obvious and self defeating, INHO. The ONLY reason to go “into the lion’s den” is to take Hillary voters away from her. Trump supporters go to his rally’s. He is not there, at the debate, for them.
Let the media bias speak for itself. Don’t waste valuable time with the distraction. Communicate to THE TARGET AUDIENCE. In that respect perhaps Trump did better than we, at first blush, give him credit for. He showed remarkable restraint in the face of taunting by TWO adversaries. He needs to continue to do so. My one criticism is he needs to check his ego at the door. Better leave it at Trump Tower for 8 years. Quit defending himself against their attacks. It is a distraction and wastes time.
Drive three points, over and over, ad nauseum, into the skull of everyone. Especially Hillary’s voters. $20 Trillion in debt, failed Rat cities plagued by despair, unemployment, and violence, his plan to re invigorate them. Those three would do nicely.
He has to keep in mind why he is there. MISSION, MISSION, MISSION. Take her voters away from her. Instead of defending himself against attacks just respond, looking into the camera, with, “See folks, these moderators and politicians don’t want you to consider $20 Trillion, etc., etc.”
If he does that, IMHO, he wins the election. Big time. If he is going into the lion’s den he NEEDS TO BE DANIEL. In January we can feed Hillary, Zero, and the MSM to the lions. If he wins they will devour each other. With a little encouragement they most certainly will.
He’s a news jockey.
On his taxes? Easy question to answer, point out that since every return she has filed for 8 years or whatever had to be re filed so the fact is what she has released probably is NOT her tax return.
A CMJ - Clinton Media Jockey
And then he needs to spend the rest of that time on $20 Trillion in debt, etc.
I think Trump did great. His passion for the plight of the American worker, in contrast to her technocrat demeanor, won him the rust belt last night.
Wish I could photoshop a lawn jockey!
If he is going into the lions den he NEEDS TO BE DANIEL...He showed a lot of constraint which was very good.
As the hours pass it may turn out that this restraint will win some of her voters over. It was painful for us to see him watch so many hanging curve balls float by but that may have a different impact on her voters. Again, if he can avoid the distraction of personal attacks in the future he may peel even more of her voters away.
Then she has the brass to blame gun-owners for the problem citing the need for 'universal background checks' knowing full well that only hampers law-abiding people.
Not to mention the absolutely stupid idea of using the no-fly list to deny a firearms purchase. This list has had Senators, 5 year old boys, people with same names and on and on. Furthermore is the impossibility of getting your name off the list.
What we have come to expect from this person and her party; lies, misrepresentation, 1/4 truths and obfuscation of simple things.
Democrats should be illegal. just say'n.
Holt was clearly Clinton’s co-candidate.
There is a great reason Holt was 100% in the tank for Illary. After Lauer dared to ask her about e-mails and run a fairly even debate, she went ballistic on NBC execs and ML. And the remainder of the MSM joined in on the character assassination. Lester wanted to save his neck.
“...point out that since every return she has filed for 8 years or whatever had to be re filed so the fact is what she has released probably is NOT her tax return.”
Also point out that 57% of her charitable donation was to the Clinton Foundation. Convenient right? Take money from left pocket; put it into right pocket; deduct amount from income.
and bathroom server too..she admits it was wrong.....Trump could spend an hour on how she thought it was all right and the State Dept let her get away with it despite warnings!!!....Talk about bad decisions by a presidential candidate!!!...No respect for the rules and normal protocol...Jeez!
Her dumb ass comment on how police forces need to be trained better was ridiculous!
I’m surprised that anyone here is surprised or outraged by the mugging last night.
What did you think was going to happen?
And it will be the same song, second verse next debate if Trump’s people don’t put their foot down.
Hillary had an uncanny familiarity with the questions and a canned ease of response. The same questions to BOTH clients, verbatim, and submitted to them several days before the debate. The candidates can pose novel questions to one another. It’s a debate.
A red-green light timer for responses and rebuttals. We won’t have to time the question reader because there should be no `follow-up’ by the moderator-turned-partisan-inquisitor: that is, no grilling of candidates (Trump. Hillary? heavens no) by the `moderator’.
The debate `moderators’ have shown they cannot be trusted to moderate. They are partisan, whether conscious of it or not. So the moderator becomes a reader. Period.
If the commission refuses, Trump should tell them he will refuse to be baited and will ignore, “When did you stop beating your wife?” questions from the question reader. He shouldn’t have to fight a two-front war. Hillary didn’t have to defend herself last night from Trump AND Holt. Challenging the opposition is the job of the other side. This is a debate not a `get Trump’ gauntlet.
And if the designated journalist is so instructed but just can’t control him/herself from turning Candy and bringing up some BS non sequiter straight-line for Clinton (e.g. Trump’s birther racism: I nearly threw my remote at the screen at that point), or can’t stop from interrupting, Trump says, “You are doing it again, helping Hillary and breaking the rules”—whatever and talks over him/her, looks into the camera, ignores both Clinton and her straight man and uses his time to talk to America about anything he wants. What choice does he have?
Why are we letting ****ing journalists run this show?
The journalist pretends to be objective, but actually had been sharpening his ax for Trump, so affected by cognitive dissonance that they believe their own lies, like Dan Rather’s `Fake but accurate’?
Who’d a thunk it?
Police forces need better training because they are inherently racist???...Did she say that?
Now what in the sam hell does his tax returns have to do with those focus issues?
Absolutely nothing...as planned!
