Cruz offers to help Trump prep for next debate
The Washington Examiner ^ | September 27, 2016 | Joel Gehrke

Sen. Ted Cruz said on Tuesday he is willing to help Donald Trump prepare for his next debate with Hillary Clinton.

"I am happy to help," Cruz said on Hugh Hewitt's radio show Tuesday morning. "I have conveyed that to them."
.
.
"I think he really went after Hillary, which was a good thing," Cruz told Hewitt. "Anyone who is swooning at Hillary's performance last night, that's a pretty good indication that you're a card-carrying member of the liberal media, especially in the first half hour. I think Donald very much had the upper hand over Hillary. Hillary was tentative and had no real answers.

It would be very helpful for Trump to learn how to debate rather than win arguments like a boardroom CEO and Cruz knows how to make arguments and defend them not talk in circles resaying the thing he has already said 3 times in the last minute. Not that I expect Trump fanatics to understand.

Trump did not win a debate last night, but he did gained a few voters if the propaganda that is being blasted against him does not take them away. That alone makes him the luckiest presidential hopeful ever!

It would be better if like Regan he learned something from the first debate and came back to win hands down. Not holding my breath.

“Good on you, Mr. Cruz. You are working your way back into my good graces.”

So pissant, you are planning to be “alone” again? The only “good graces” Cruz can be in is those in either Edmonton or Habana. Once you hit my “$hit list,” you’re there for good, and that’s where Ted rests with me.

“Trump needs the support of the (former) Cruz supporters. Without them he will not be elected.”

And just where are they going to go? Cruz belatedly “backhandedly endorsed” Trump, and thus “released” the few morons who still think Ted had a future in national politics. That said. given the abbyss that exists between he and Trump, Trump would be a fool to take any “help” from him.

Actually, when Trump was asked last night, who was the best debater he has faced, he responded, “Ted Cruz” I never liked or supported Cruz, but this is pretty close to a Trump reaching out, as far as I am concerned.

given the abbyss that exists between he and Trump

Nonsense.

I stand by my remarks. Particularly the bit about Cruz-hate serving only to support Hildebeeste.

OK all you Cruz haters. Who would you want to advise Trump about constitutional issues? With the second debate featuring Clinton chuckleheads picked from the audience, they will be asking about amnesty, border security, obamacare and other issues where a constitutional answer will be better than “you are a racist Donald.”

You might hate Cruz. I don't hate Cruz . It was just a battle to me which Trump had to win and he did. I'm a Trump supporter.

I just want to reach out to fellow freepers here who were Cruz fans, All Conservatives and All Americans must unite to defeat the communist evil that threatens America , named Hillary.

I hope you change your mind and Do it for America and for freedom itself

“Looks like Cruz Derangement Syndrome is alive and well on Free Republic.”

Yes, it is, and with good reason. Cruz proved himself to be a worthless POS! Cruz’ “appeal” is to idological morons who are the analogs of those “liberal idologs” who support Hillary knowing full well that she too is a POS! I wouldn’t “trust” Cruz to hand out towels in the men’s room at Mar-a-Lago!

Cruz in favor of Constitutional convention of the States and North American Union. Bad ideas that will not make Ametica Great Again.

Trump doesn’t need slime to get the job done. He’s proven that. He simply tarnishes his brand by bringing Ted on board now.

Think about last night. Trump could have done better. None the less, he crushed Hillary in the public opinion after the event.

Who is responsible for that? Trump!

Ted wants go get in there so he can claim he was an insider when it really counted. NO! Ted wants to be an insider now that it doesn’t count.

To hell with him.

If people can’t decide to back Trump on their own, then they go their own way in peace. They were never one of us to begin with.

Hillary Clinton is the real issue here. Ted doesn’t figure in this at all anymore.

My answer to you is people must hear principled speech, not just adjectives and cheerleading. Trump’s greatest strength has been fearlessness against Ivy League generated war on words, “hate speech”. He doesn’t articulate conceptually, as a wider abstraction, that he’s intolerant of all intimidation aimed at censoring Free Speech.

That’s where he stumbles and gets drawn into defending some word or other he uttered, rather vulgarly, as men do among themselves. If he could pull back his perspective to the wider concept of American’s Constitutional Right to Free Speech, he’d get back on offense.

We will not keep our Republic if our leaders don’t speak about Life, Liberty, Private Property, Pursuit of Happiness—why those words and how government has infringed upon all of them to the point of statist collapse.

We must have intellectuals on our side. Even one principled defender of a return to “Laissez-Faire Capitalism” will make a yuge difference!

There was a lot of hype about Cruz’s intellectual brilliance and great debating ability, but I seem to recall that we saw little or no evidence of either during the primary debates.

Last night demonstrated that there is a substantial difference between one-on-one debating vs. pack debating. Trump definitely wasn't on his game as he was in the pack debates where he could use other candidates to take out or soften up a rival for Trump to swoop in for the kill. Of course, Her Heinous was using Holt in that manner, but that's a different issue which Rudy is working on.

Cruz would help Trump with the mechanics of one-on-one debating that Her Heinous, dull and programmed as she is, knows pretty well from her two Presidential campaigns. The enmity between the two might even be a plus to show Trump how to stay away from too much emotion and play into her hands as he did from time to time last night.

FYI only about 32% of American adults have a bachelor’s degree or higher. You want votes, you talk to those who don’t.

I don’t think Trump needs help from a guy he totally trashed in the primaries. Ted is too late to this party.
