A Subdued Donald Trump Showed a Side We Rarely See
NY Times ^ | Sept. 27, 2016 | ASHLEY PARKER

Posted on 09/27/2016 2:24:51 PM PDT by Innovative

If “Trump the Candidate” is often an outsize caricature of Donald J. Trump, the New York businessman, then “Trump the Debater” was the opposite of outsize: a subdued, scowling titan, stuffed into a black suit, straining at the seams as the debate at Hofstra University wore on.

The answer to the core questions — could Mr. Trump comport himself as disciplined “Teleprompter Trump” without the aid of actual teleprompters, and could he appear plausibly presidential opposite Hillary Clinton — came early in the debate. And the answer, at least for the first portion of the debate, was yes.

By the standards Mr. Trump, his team and we in the news media seemed to have set for the Republican nominee, Mr. Trump cleared the bar. He stayed more or less in control, never directly insulted Mrs. Clinton and did not create new controversies over policy.

The MSM is frustrated -- they were hoping that Trump will do something outrageous and terrible and he did not do any such thing. He acted presidential and reasonable, despite the baiting by the moderator.

Whatever you think of Trump, he’s not stupid.

He can see that Hillary is imploding. All he needs
to do is convince the undecided that he’s reasonable
and “presidential” and he’s got this in the bag.

OMG this article in the first few lines makes me want to heave. I saw that name, and it was published in the NYT, and expected precisely what I found. Pure BS.

The used ever trick in the book yesterday.

It isn’t working for them this year.

Shadows of Ronald Reagan haunt them.

Awwahhhhh...

The MSM has been describing him as unstable and prone to exploding in anger at the slightest provocation. Although this article still tries to insult him even while noting he did not act that way, millions of people who tuned in expecting to see a rabble-rouser saw Trump, instead.

The narrative falls apart when people can see the truth for themselves.

When Trump sits behind the desk in the Oval Office, subdued is not going to be on a nameplate on the desk.

It will be on tens of desks at the New York Times, until they cut the jobs of a good many people who used to sit at them.

Still more liberal spin.

After Trump’s masterful performance vs. hillary, the msm are eating their hearts out and chewing their arms off.

In other words, Trump, who has never professionally debated, successfully stood toe to toe and held his own against a polished professional politician.

Hillary Clinton is basically unlikable, no make that despicable. Not at all like her husband. Let her talk all she wants, without attacking her. Why do most polls show Trump as the winner last night? He let the hate factor bring her down.

Trump’s suit was navy, not black. Do these journalists lie about everything? Real navy does look almost black, but it is not the same to a discerning eye.

Trump also did not wear “that red power tie” as Hillary predicted. Nor did he “strain at the seams,” that is simply absurd! Hillary’s red suit, on the other hand: passe, outdated and not flattering. Trump’s only red was his “flag” pin. I guess Hillary left hers in the powder room.

Hillary “won” the debate but failed to convince anyone to vote for her. In fact, her “win at all cost” hurt her and may even have lost her votes. Interesting.

The MSM needs to get its collective story straight.

I’ve read elsewhere that, according to liberal spokeswomen, Trump displayed too much testosterone.

What's really great about this election is that all the Main Stream journobloggers have Twitter feeds, and they can't control their yapping little anti-Trump barking:

Ashley, who's about 12 years old, (born 1982) is an American journblogger and a Washington-based politics blogger for The New York Times (since 2011) and photoblogger. She lives in Bethesda, Maryland, where she grew up. [Wikipedia]
