Australia: State-wide power loss raises 'serious questions' (Climate Changers Get their Due)

Mr Frydenberg said more than 40 per cent of South Australia's energy supply comes from renewable energy, but emphasised that was not the cause for the blackout.

"That does raise questions for the stability of the system — not just for supply, because when the wind is not blowing and the sun is not shining, electricity is not being generated — but also for the stability of the system because of the frequency that is generated as opposed to base-load power which has historically been more coal and more gas," Mr Frydenberg said.

"So questions are raised by the virtue of the increasing amount of renewables, but it has to be underlined that this was a weather event which led to this occurrence."

South Australian Senator Nick Xenophon disagreed, and described the incident as unprecedented.

( FR take note: Nick Xenophon is a vocal proponent of Climate Change and 'green power')

"This is a disgrace. How did this happen? How is an entire state blacked out?" Senator Xenophon told the ABC.

"This is unprecedented in this nation. We need answers. There needs to be an independent inquiry, independent of government, because this is a disgrace.

"The generators don't work when the wind is blowing too hard. This is one of the great paradoxes in relation to this."

The story reproduced here was linked from a blog post entitled STATE OF DESPAIR which brilliantly ties together the Green Climate Changersin a panic because there's no energy, thanks to their own policies.

It's a case study in 'What the Hell Did You Think Was Going to Happen'?

It’s a religion. True believers are willing to make the sacrifice. They probably feel holy making it.

The newest baby in the family’s (niece) first words were “Uh oh.”

Sounds like she is ready for the modern age! ;-)

Apparently the energy didn't get "renewed" fast enough.

In the sense that Star Wars, Climate Change and Renewable Energy are all fictions, yes.

I lived in South Australia, more precisely about 15 miles south of Adelaide. Big stink about this and i don’t blame the people one bit. Socialist leadership mad big decisions that everyone should have solar panels and inverters so as to charge back into the grid but did not approve of homeowners keeping it to themselves via home battery banks. How dare the people think so selfishly!

The prophetic Mad Max world of Oz could really happen, because they truly believe in socialism.

One of the unmentioned scams of wind and solor power is you must have another means to generate the same amount of power, ie, nuclear, goal, gas, thus increasing the cost of power.

Port Adelaide here Daniel. Isn’t it lovely that we are all equal now - we too are now a third world state. Isn’t it wonderful the the Premier has reassured us that this was an unavoidable weather event. While the weather event was unavoidable the way we receive our power and the failure to plan for events like this make this lot a joke. I have been involved in disaster planning and risk management and I really cannot understand the government’s inability to plan for this as it had been mentioned in ElectraNet reports. So while this is not an actual failure of green energy - although that test is really in it’s high cost - it is rather the lefty rush to try to look green - while the truth of it is our base load comes from burning brown coal in Victoria. Welcome to the socialist paradise! My hope is that South Aussies have finally had enough of this government. This along with our waiting times in Emergency rooms and ramping of patients in ambulances, massive overspends in government projects, half finished infrastructure I could go on. Nice to see a fellow South Aussie on here. Mitch5501 is from out Gawler way. So we make three!

Knowing human nature, eco nuts and .ist types- this will be foisted off as the people in charge were ignorant. Lets try again and get it right.

It's lucky we are so dependent on wind energy, because there's a lot coming our way (just peeping over the west side of the map)

“Senator Nick Xenophon...a vocal proponent of Climate Change and ‘green power’”

That would be a great name for a superhero, but he’d have to come up with a better superpower than “the willing suspension of disbelief.”

It's great, the wind blows, but unless there's a good way to store it, it's useless when the winds die down.

But hey, I have a friend who drives a Tesla, and who pontificates about his 'no energy' car.

It's not even worth the discussion.
