The Twenty-fifth Amendment was adopted in 1967, following President Eisenhower’s heart attacks and President Kennedy’s assassination. Its next invocation can happen at anytime. Last invocation was by President Bush in 2007, making Dick Cheney Acting President for over 2 hours.
