I've always believed that PEOPLE screw things up, not faiths or ideologies. We lived in the KSA for five years and saw that the Saudi government threw out their undesirables if they didn't behave.
If they STAYED in the KSA and still misbehaved they were PUNISHED, publicly. Not pretty.

If Osama bin Laden [أسامة بن محمد بن عوض] had DARED to return to his homeland he would have been executed--beheaded. He was from an extremely wealthy, powerful and influential family but he was SO bad that NOTHING could save him from a beheading...so he fled from pillar to post, with NO ONE allowing him into their country.

PAKISTAN did let him in and allowed him free access to everything. He found Al Qaida there. I don't know why the USA didn't "punish" Pakistan for doing that.

My husband taught me to shoot. We used a photo of bin Laden's face as a target. I could hit that ahole's beard from 20 feet, which was good for me.

Also, the USA relies heavily on Saudi petroleum and natural gas. Believe it or not, they are our only "friends" in that region. So, there won't be any cutting relations with the KSA as we are so dependent on their petroleum and natural gas.

There are THOUSANDS of Americans working over there, making a BUNDLE of money. They pay Americans a friggin' fortune to work over there. The IRS has a "deal" for Americans: Americans working for ARAMCO do NOT have to pay any federal income tax on the first $100,000.00 they make over there. NO income tax. THAT is how very important their petroleum is to us.

It was a partnership that was settled by a handshake, no contracts...between the King and the private American oil companies. [Standard Oil was one of the original companies.] The U.S. government had/has NO part in the "awl bidness." That's "Texas" for oil business.

There are Christian men of the cloth there for the Christians, though they are called "special teachers" because non-Muslim men of the cloth are NOT allowed into the Kingdom. It's an accommodation made just for us Christians.
*There are priests. I think ours was a Dominican.
**The Protestants have to join up with each other as the minister/reverend tends all Protestants as one group.
***There is ONE vicar for the area as there are NOT a lot of Anglicans.

We won't be leaving their soon. But, the country WILL run out of petroleum eventually. The geologists put it at 200 years. THEN they will have nothing but sand.
I won't be around. I hope the FR will be!
