used to be if they became public charge within 5 years of immigrating-deported

now we cant give green cards and refugee status and free money away fast enough the USA has gone crazy

I don’t know the history of SSI and Medicaid well enough to give you an exact time table.

In 1984, my Green Card girlfriend’s parents immigrated and her Father qualified for SSI and Medicaid because he was 65.

As to younger disabled immigrants, back then, I don’t know.
