...just as US farmers are harvesting...

Just report that there is excess mercury in the Chinese corn. It's probably true, too.

To: ameribbean expat
I did not know that China consumed that much corn.
To: pangaea6
I’ll leave you to your rant, but for those that follow things more closely, TPP does not include China.

That must be the NASTIEST corn in the world.
Living out here in Corn world, U.S.A. we wouldn’t give most of the canned stuff to a horse.
This has got to be utter nonsense. Wait until the seeds are tainted.

I was surprised, too. Wonder when it became an agricultural staple for them.

With 4 times the population as the US - they consume a lot of ALL foods...

we export mountains of corn.
Some of it is converted to meat before exporting.
We also export boatloads of such meat.

You joke, but it’s true! Some of the biggest eaters I’ve seen are tiny Chinese women. Not just “a lot for their size”, but “a lot - more than I would eat” amounts. I’m 6 feet and 300 pounds, and many of those 5 foot, 95 pound Chinese women can out-eat me!
But back to the original, consider than half of the entire world’s population lives in China, India, and Southeast Asia. HALF. In a space about the size of North America. That’s a LOT of mouths to feed!
