Donald Trump's decision to take a $916 million loss on his 1995 income tax return showed his business acumen and "genius" at figuring out how to minimize his tax bill, two of the Republican presidential candidate's advisers said on Sunday.

"This is a perfectly legal application of the tax code. And he would have been fool not to take advantage of it," said Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor who is one of Trump's advisers.

It looks like Trump once again is playing the media goons like a fiddle. The Clinton media tried to nail Trump for the Machado caper, and Trump turned that on them. Are we hearing anymore of the Miss Universe soon to be porn star soon to be the pregnant bimbo of a Mexican drug lord soon to be a co-conspirator in a murder plot? She has disappeared from the face of the earth because the Trump team crushed the story to make the Clinton media look like fools and Trump ended the winner.

Now this tax thing is making Trump look like a genius businessman exactly the opposite of what the Clinton media wanted. This tax story will be buried in the next few days and Trump will look like a wealth creator, a job creator, a business powerhouse that Hillary cannot even come close to. She has no idea what she is doing when it comes to business because she has no experience whatsoever in that endeavor.

Great leader that Trump!

No, he should pay more taxes than what the law requires because we all look for ways to pay more taxes than we legally have to. right?

I also suspect that Trump’s entire campaign has been written off so that the Federal government has in essence paid for it.

I can’t believe this is an issue for very many people. Big media running out of things to ‘get’ Trump on.

Still, Mr. Trump should fire back and ask anyone in the media if they write off the interest on their mortgage or carry forward their stock and bond losses to future tax years.

Of course when THEY use the tax laws to their advantage, it’s perfectly all right.

This is a optics disaster for the media. They are completely discrediting these stories about Trump. Trump has improved his rapid response and turned the tables easily.

If this is all Hillary has she is toast.

Election over.

Why should any Republican join the socialist’s game of fighting over who should be paying the taxes rather than how to increase the size of the pie? And Trump’s taxes are his own business as long as he is not cheating.

IMO someone smart enough to not pay millions in taxes that would be wasted on payouts to Iran car bank and housing bailouts etc. Is exactly the type of person I want watching how all our tax dollars are spent.

As far as the tax thing goes, it's a lose-lose scenario for him. He loses if he releases the forms. he loses if he doesn't. He has to choose which way is less of a loss. I think he has made his choice. I don't frankly give a damn about his taxes.

All US real estate developers/investers enjoy the same tax shelters and deferments that Trump enjoys. This is how Hillary avoids talking about her illegal activities. It's nothing more than that.

Trump’s not a genius. Companies do this every day! It’s part of doing business. Some years are profitable, other years are not. There are ups and downs in the business cycle.

These politicians made the loopholes, now they think loopholes that are used by businesses are a bad thing. Maybe they should change those laws.

I just got this in an email forward so I can't verify its accuracy but I'll put it out here for comment.

‘Generous’ Clintons Donated $1,042,000 To Themselves in 2015 by Brian Anderson

Bill and Hillary released their tax returns today to both pressure Donald Trump and show the world what generous benefactors they are. After making a butt-load of money for doing nothing in 2015, the Clintons want you to see that they donated $1,042,000 to charity. Upon closer inspection all of that money ended up going to them. I’m not quite sure they understand how charity works.

The Clintons made $10.6 million last year, which is astounding considering they don’t actually do anything. They don’t own or run a company. They aren’t developers or manufacturers. Nothing they do creates jobs or benefits anyone other than them.

Keeping with that theme, of the $1,042,000 they gave to charity, $1 million went to the Clinton Foundation. The Clinton’s charitable organization hasn’t proven that they actually do anything to help people, but it sure is under fire for being corrupt. As far as anyone can tell, the Clinton Foundation is a way for rich people to buy favors from the Clintons, especially Hillary.

Giving a million bucks to the Clinton Foundation is as bullshit as it gets in terms of making a charitable donation, but hey, they did give another $42,000 to a real charity, right? Not so fast. That 42k went to Desert Classic Charities, which is golf tournament.

A golf tournament may not seem like the greatest charity to give to, but it gets much worse optics wise. From the Desert Classic Charities website:

"Desert Classic Charities, the local nonprofit entity that organizes the CareerBuilder Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation, will host their annual Charity Check distribution event today."

Are you effing kidding me? They just gave all of that money to themselves.

This is a tax fraud scheme. They gave 10% of their income to “charity,” wrote that off their taxes, and then these Clinton-owned charities will launder the money back to them. And guess what? The rest of us paid for that. In addition to writing off $1,042,000 in charitable donations, the Clintons found another $1,358,000 in tax deductions.

Again, they don’t actually do anything. What the hell are they writing off? Almost all of their money comes from speaking fees. How do you get almost a million and a half worth of write-offs from talking to people?

Do you really think that Hillary is on the level when she says she is going to make millionaires pay their fair share? No way in hell is she going to mess with the tax system that she and her husband benefit from so lucratively. Besides ripping off the American people, this shows how little the Clinton’s actually care about their fellow man.

There are so many worthy charities they could have donated to. They could have helped out veterans, they could have given to medical research, or they could have aided people with mental illness. Instead, they decided they themselves were most in need of help and gave to the Clintons.

And what about all of that stuff that Hillary is running for president on and claims to care about deeply? Reproductive rights? Black lives? Gun control? Immigrants? She didn’t a give a liberal dime to any of those things. This is pathetic. They didn’t buy Girl Scout cookies, boost the local high school football team, or even donate semen-stained clothing to the Goodwill. I gave more to actual charity last year than these two elitists and I don’t make a hundredth of what they do.

<><>I also suspect that Trump’s entire campaign has been written off so that the Federal government has in essence paid for it.<><>

I never thought about that, I would just plain laugh my skinny butt off if it turned out to be true. If he figured out a way to write off the whole campaign, that would be a classic...

He is playing the media as usual of course, and will come out of this smelling like a rose as usual.

How many people do any of you know who pay as much in taxes as they possibly can? I thought so. Trump has already stated repeatedly he pays as little as possible, and usually says because he doesn’t like the way the government squanders his money. I don’t either.

But what most of the stuffed suits don’t want to talk about is that he also wants to eliminate just this kind of write off, that only helps the rich. Along with a number of other write offs, loopholes and tax shelters. He’s also said in at least one interview I saw that his tax plan would cost him a fortune.

Giuliani was right, he would have been a fool not to take advantage of it. Who wouldn’t? I’ve never met one person who didn’t try everything available to pay as little taxes as possible, myself included. Taxes are too high overall, and the government wastes far too much of our money. I don’t blame him at all if he actually didn’t pay any taxes for a few years, which we still don’t know. It’s an accusation, not a fact.

I still think a lot of this is all planned out, Trump is sitting there laughing at the media running around chasing their tails, slinging everything they can at the walls and nothing sticks...What successful businessman have you ever seen who does anything without a distinct plan, probably written out? Does anyone else notice Trump always manages to get something in the news virtually every weekend so it’s all they talk about till Monday, when he has something else ready to feed them? When was the last weekend you remember we didn’t talk about the latest Trump “gaffe” for the whole time? Anybody else see a pattern? He even managed to get this story on top of the train wreck...I’ve heard a couple of short segments, everything else has been about Trump’s taxes.

The press can’t help themselves. They hate Trump, and they can’t stop giving him free publicity either.

Trump is a Winner.

He wins at business.

He wins on taxes.

He wins, America wins.

America welcomes winners.
