“The United States Department of Agriculture is committing nearly $400,000 to increase food access for the Somali community in Lewiston,” the Associated Press reports:
Members of the Somali Bantu community in the city are partnering with the Cumberland County Food Security Council on the project. The funding is expected to support Somalis’ agriculture and help them reconnect with their cultural heritage.
The USDA says the objectives of the project include building the capacity of the Somali Bantu community and its farmers to produce food and address the problem of limited food access. The agency describes the Somali Bantu community as the poorest community in the city, which is the second largest city in the state.
Cumberland County Food Security Council will recruit people in the community to help increase access to healthy food.
News of this grant comes on the heels of a $300,000 federal grant designed to help limit domestic assaults occurring in Maine’s Somali community.

I’ll never forget my first trip to Maine. I stayed in Lewiston.
Dead of winter, beautiful scenery, and people dressed in african & middle eastern garb everywhere.
We need to help Somali farmers in Maine? Really?
I doubt it. It’s just another free grant toward a liberal maggot organization to teach jihad against Americans.
The resettlement to Lewiston began 2002. I remember Neal Boortz talked about the Somali migration from Atlanta to Lewiston. I remember him saying word got out that the welfare was generous in Lewiston so off they wandered.
I live in Maine. The last time I went to Lewiston was in 1990.
I have never seen a Somali in eastern Maine. Doesan’t mean they aren’t here, I just have not seen them. I have seen older Haitian people in my area, however.
My son and I were riding on a rollercoaster in the southern Maine area and 4 somalies spent the entire ride spitting on us. I called security and was told that not only would they stay since I don't have witnesses but they were going to remove me from the park. As this was happening these 15 year olds handled came up to me and shook his finger in my face saying that the kids did not spit on me.

Sounds like they are buying them a farm. They are using a farm in our town. Paid by the feds.
I’ve read the geert wilders speech before but I found so many new things catching my eye.
Especially calling these “refugees” and immigrants what he chooses to call them, SETTLERS. From their perspective, that is what they are. Settling in new parts of their future caliphate.
I was stunned to see so many Islamic centers in this area (san Fernando valley area of L.A.) that were not there before. I know this area has had a huge influx of people who appear middle eastern, but so many of them are Armenian (Christian) and Persian (mostly Jewish). I honestly didn’t realize that among the Judeo Christians were that many Muslims moving in.
I just watched a bunch of short clips and it seems to me the money would be better spent returning the folks to Somalia, since most of them seem to prefer living in a muslim country. But I’d also like to know what agreements the various bakeries, meat packing, etc., union factories made with the gumbent to import labor. Because the victims of migrant crime, and the mayors, need to know that.

I have been to Lewiston-Auburn several times as a participant in the annual hot air balloon festival.
That is when I learned of the problems the Somalis were causing.
