Donald Trump is devouring Fox News
The Washington Post ^ | 10/6/2016 | Erik Wemple

Posted on 10/06/2016 2:33:35 PM PDT by tekrat

Any news outlet wishing to provide solid and comprehensive coverage of the 2016 presidential campaign cannot avoid mentioning Sean Hannity's promotion of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. "Hannity," which airs in the prime-time lineup of Fox News, is influential among conservatives and enjoys a substantial cable news audience, and its more interesting moments have a long tail on the Internet. In violation of any journalistic principle, Hannity has done a video promotion for Trump, hosted him for softball interviews too numerous to recount and even provided advice to the campaign.

BuzzFeed, the New York Times, The Washington Post and the rest of the field have reported extensively on this dynamic.

And last night, another important source of campaign news — Megyn Kelly’s own prime-time show on Fox News — covered it as well. “Donald Trump, with all due respect to my friend at 10:00, will go on ‘Hannity’ and pretty much only ‘Hannity’ and will not venture out to the unsafe spaces these days,” said the host in a segment with Stuart Stevens, a strategist who worked on the Mitt Romney campaign. Nor were those remarks an out-of-the-blue, impolitic slam on a colleague. Just before uttering that point, Kelly ripped into Hillary Clinton for pursuing a similar self-sheltering policy: “Now they’re both in their own version of a presidential protection program … They’ve designed her situation so she’s not in a place where she’s feels uncomfortable … which is why she sat for a half an hour with Mary J. Blige the singer, which is why she did Entertainment Tonight this evening, which is why we just found out that when she went on the ‘Steve Harvey’ show, she had every single question given to her in writing in advance and then she feigned surprise as the questions were asked.”

That is pretty funny. WAPO talking about ‘journalistic principle”. I have heard Hannity say several times that he is a talk show host and not a journalist. Meghan Kelly on the other hand..

The WaPo, with no visible sense of irony, is now lecturing us on journalistic ethics.

Best. Election. Ever.

Megyn has been openly hostile to Trump ... her snarky comments, the little tete-a-tete not-so-subtle bash Trump conversations she has with Stirewalt, and let’s not forget her “I’m going to take Trump down” pointing finger/attitude at the first debate. She blew it big time. Hannity is getting better ratings than she is these days & she just can’t stand it so she’s whining & complaining & now Mr. Wemple is carrying her water. It’s self-inflicted & to talk about “journalistic” standards where she is concerned (and a good portion of FOX these days) is laughable.

“Hannity is the only one on Fox supporting Trump.”

Not exactly true....The entire Fox and Friends team most especially Ducey are quite pro Trump.

From the WaPo this statement is laughably ridiculous!...............

Haha…a hit dog howls. The Democrat media is beside themselves that ONE show on ONE network promotes Trump, while Hillary has all the rest of the media at her beck and call, even what purports to being straight reporting. They have prostituted themselves to such a degree that no one watches or listens to them and their credibility is shot. That’s not Hannity’s fault. He has an opinion show and is the only place Trump supporters can go to hear a friendly word about their candidate.

““journalistic principle”.... Journalists have themselves turned the term into an oxymoron.”

The Oxyrhynchus Papyri (OXY) are a group of manuscripts discovered during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries by archaeologists including Bernard Pyne Grenfell and Arthur Surridge Hunt at an ancient rubbish dump.

I maintain, therefore, that the current state of journalism is in fact an oxymoron - writings by fools that belong in a dump.

“In violation of any journalistic principle…”

This must be a joke coming from a paper that has made it it’s raison d’etre to try to take Trump down by any means. Trump has one TV program in his favor; Hillary has dozens. These leftist “reporters” should never again hypocritically mention “journalistic principle,” because they are no longer even pretending to have any.

Never has a candidate been subject to more partisan and distorted attacks from almost the entire media than Donald Trump. If these “journalists” had any integrity at all, they would resign in disgrace and apologize to the American people for acting as propagandists and trying to destroy the functions of our democratic system.

Kelly has her panties in a wad because Trump won’t do her show. She bashes Trunmp 24/7 and then wonders why he won’t appear on her show. What a twit!

Hannity doesn't claim to be a journalist. He's a commentator, and his show is an opinion program. If the person who wrote this was a real journalist he would know that and understand the difference.

When has Hannity not supported the Republican candidate? Why is this news?

Kelly wasn’t criticizing Hannity either, just Clinton and Trump for not doing tougher interviews.
