There’s just something about throwing food away that gets my Irish up.

Me too. I grew up with a father that didn't want leftovers so whatever wasn't eaten at dinner would get dumped in the trash. I still have a huge aversion to throwing anything away from watching perfectly good food get wasted.

I don’t like forcing kids to eat, but I want them to get in the habit of only taking what they’ll eat. My wife complains if I finish their dinners; I simply won’t throw it away. It isn’t them getting fat - it’s me!
