CNN: Ryan's Job 'May Be Under Threat' From Pro-Trump Rebellion in House

Paul Ryan's job as speaker "may be under threat" from a pro-Donald Trump rebellion within the House of Representatives, CNN reported Wednesday.

At issue for the top Republican in the country is a Monday conference call with House membership during which Ryan said he would no longer defend Trump or campaign for him, instead focusing on congressional races to ensure a GOP majority.

Ryan's "position to abandon the GOP nominee has angered other Republicans who have expressed their concerns with Ryan's position on a private conversation call earlier this week," CNN's Manu Raju reported. "Why are these few votes important? Because if the House majority does stay Republican, Ryan needs 218 votes to stay on the House floor. He can only afford a handful of defections."

One lawmaker and member of the Freedom Caucus, Rep. Jim Bridenstine of Oklahoma, took to Twitter earlier Wednesday to express his disappointment with Ryan's lack of support for Trump.

At a Florida rally Wednesday, Trump slammed Ryan again for not saying "good going" after the second debate and suggested something nefarious was afoot with House leadership.

"There's a whole deal going on there, you know," Trump told the crowd in Ocala, Florida. "There's a whole deal going on, we'll figure it out. I always figure things out. But there's a whole sinister deal going on."

Someone ought to whisper to the Democrats that they hold a press conference with a woman who claims Paul Ryan raped/groped her 12 years ago.

Then let all the other GOP House members withdraw their support for him as speaker.

Do I really need the /sarc> tag?

Ryan needs to go. He is too stupid and weak to lead the House.

We need a smart, conniving, strong leader to lead. I have no suggestions.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ryan is nothing but a bend over biatch for the Left, and indeed must go.

There are many who would be good. Lt. Col Allen West is one,. but he lacks a seat because of Wasserman Shultz illegal redistricting of his constituency. Now he lives in Texas. I would love to see West with a seat in Congress sitting as the Speaker of the House.

Time to throw out “Quisling” Paul Ryan out of his Speaker’s position and get a good conservative to replace him. This lying RINO has got to GO.

Not if he (Ryan) loses his seat. If Republicans in his district leave that race blank, the Dim wins by default.

Please stop with these Trump revenge on Ryan fantasies.

Here are the facts:

In Wisconsin's April Presidential Primary Trump received less than 20% of the vote in Ryan 1st congressional district.

In August a Trump surrogate candidate - after a 6 month anti-Ryan Breitbart barrage by Steve Bannon - lost the 1st congressional district GOP primary to Ryan 84% to 15%.

This is just the latest Bannon-led quixotic jihad against Ryan.

In polling released yesterday by the Marquette University Law School poll - the most reliable pollster in Wisconsin - Trump actually took a 1 point lead (his first lead in Wisconsin) before Friday's video release. On Saturday after the video, Trump dropped SEVENTEEN points in Marquette polling. Trump has recovered somewhat and now trails by 7 points.

Those drops didn't come from ardent Trump backers. Do you honestly think Trump will reclaim 8 points in Wisconsin by attacking Ryan?

I would much rather see Trump & Bannon spend 100% of their time trying to win the White House and ZERO time trying to topple windmills.

Still want to live in Trump Revenge Fantasyland?

Like Trump said, Ryan will have a different job soon - NOT speaker.

Will Ryan have to retire-—fully paid for life, of course—to his home in Wisconsin which has a wall all around it? He doesn’t want a wall on our borders,,but he has a wall at his house.

I was born & raised in Wisconsin.....damn little reason anywhere there for a wall. Milwaukee is getting pretty rough, but not in Janesville.

Actually, I don’t see Trump carrying Wisconsin, and never did. And it would be nice to see Ryan defeated. He has done NOTHING as SOTH, except give Obama what he wants.

Be afraid, Paul Ryan. Be very afraid. If Trump loses, you will still receive a portion of the blame for your pronounced lack of support. This reminds me of that scene in The Wizard of Oz, where the the Blackguard are marching to and fro inside the sealed off palace. As they march, they keep chanting; “Or-eeo, Orr-eo!”.

They chanted "all we are, we owe her."

There is no wall around Ryan's house. There is a fence. He doesn't live in a secluded isolated area or in a high rise condo with private security. He lives in a neighborhood in the middle of a city. He has young kids and a dog and wants to maintain some sense of privacy for his wife and kids.

Do you have a fence to keep your horses? Is your land posted?

If you were a public figure, would you want your political opponents filming your home and your children? What about creepy stalkers? The media?

Beyond that, Ryan is 2nd in line for the presidency. I am quite certain that his government security detail has advised Ryan to build even more security than actually exists.

What's next? Are you going to complain that Ryan's private home has drapery and blinds, but he doesn't want to install them on the US-Mexico border?

Stop whining about Ryan's yard fence. And for the love of God, stop the infantile revenge fantasies against those you fantasize to be Trump's enemies!

Focus your efforts on putting Trump in the White House. Go out and knock on doors. Make phone calls.
