All true, but most people believed the press back then, and some still do incredibly. However, in the 70’s is when I think more people started opening their eyes. I know it was for me as I was in my late teens & early 20’s. However, I probably became more aware of it because I was raised in a solidly Republican household, and most of the relatives I actually knew were also Republicans. What that means is these people would discuss the media bias so I was exposed to that frame of mind and was actually able to see the bias they were talking about.
I agree with all you said as well. You are absolutely right that more and more people began recognizing the bias in media beginning in the 70’s.
I think the Internet went a long way towards helping people realize the reality of an overtly biased media, that viewed their mission more as being a platform to advance a liberal view and agenda, and less dissemination of factual news.
