Amazing how it was a secret until the late 1980’s. Amazing.
Down there [basement/sub-basements] are the kitchens, in long rows, that seem to stretch for miles. [I know now, NYers don’t do *miles*, they say blocks]
To make a long story short, Arno saw my modest hydroponic herbs growing in my kitchen. He was so interested, he had a set-up built in one of the corridors at the Waldorf kitchens. It was quite impressive.
Watching Trump and Hillary whisked away, I wondered if they left through the Peacock Alley. Good memories.
Yes, blocks...20 to a mile. :-)
WOW...an hydroponic herb garden in the bowels of the Waldorf? Now that is some story! How did he come to see your hydroponic herb garden ?
I've always loved the Waldorf; it was quite near where I worked, when we lived in Manhattan and after we had moved to Chicago, we always stayed in The Towers!
Ahhhhhhhhh...Peacock Alley! :-)
