Early voting in Illinois got off to a rocky start Monday, as votes being cast for Republican candidates were transformed into votes for Democrats.
Republican state representative candidate Jim Moynihan went to vote Monday at the Schaumburg Public Library.
“I tried to cast a vote for myself and instead it cast the vote for my opponent,” Moynihan said. “You could imagine my surprise as the same thing happened with a number of races when I tried to vote for a Republican and the machine registered a vote for a Democrat.”
He notified the election judge at his polling place and demonstrated that it continued to cast a vote for the opposing candidate’s party. Moynihan was eventually allowed to vote for Republican candidates, including his own race

We hear these anecdotes every four years and nothing is ever done to eliminate these kinds of machines. I remember that after the 2000 election, there was going to be a great effort to clean up the system nationwide. What happened to that?
Wow. I’m not going outside if there’s a hint of rain, because getting hit by lightning is obviously pretty likely.

Nope, nothing rigged here in Illinois. Just SOP, as usual.
At this point, I suspect our nation’s resolution lies outside the ballot box.
I think if that happens at a poling spot all the votes are voided and those that did vote should be contacted to recast the ballot... I think it more likely vote rigging then a calibration problem.

The machine wasn’t supposed to show that the votes had been changed to democrat.
Democrats will have to rewrite the code to prevent the voter from seeing his/her vote has been stolen.

Right, calibration error. Because voting machines are like wheel balancing machines and need to be calibrated. A vote for “A” might not register as “A” with the machine with so many possible interpretations of “A.” A very fine tuning process is necessary to insure that when “A” is entered the readout will be “A.”
I think it is interesting how good a computer is at doing tasks consistently the same in all areas but voting.
Has there ever been an voting booth that flipped the vote from RAT to Republican? Just wondering...

Check on the back. There’s a switch for setting the machine to “Good” or “Evil.”

Smartmatic, a U.K.-based voting technology company with deep ties to George Soros, has provided voting technology in 16 states including battleground zones like Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Other jurisdictions affected are California, District of Columbia, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.
Among the “case studies” that Smartmatic lists on its website as examples of its work are Venezuela, where it has been facilitating elections since 2004 when it “won a bid to provide Venezuela with a reliable voting system.”

Ah yes, I remember that. All our lever machines were replaced with new scanners. After “processing” my vote, the machine tells me the vote has been accepted, but does not indicate how I voted. In 2004, registered voters had to show ID to vote. The signature on the ID had to match the one in the book. Since then, no ID is necessary, unless you’re a first-timer. You still have to sign.
