Blame it on the Russians. Claim election is invalidated due to outside influence. Worst case: huge civil unrest, best case: Obama 3rd term (either is just fine to them).
Trump talking about the rigged system has forced the Democrats to act like they will uphold the election results no matter what. So in a way he’s inoculated himself against claims that the election was stolen if he wins. At least the Dems will look foolish (again) trying to challenge the results after claiming this month that election results are always sacrosanct.

Civil unrest is a real possibility, but Obama would not be eligible for a third term no matter what happens other than martial law. The Electoral College would make a decision, and it would be final when validated by the Congress. If something happened to corrupt the decision of the Electoral College, Obama would not remain in power, but it would revert temporarily to the Speaker of the House until the situation is resolved. Paul Ryan would be president.
At least that is how I’ve always thought it to be, but I may be wrong. Please feel free to correct me.
