I send an email to them over a month ago telling them to hold the money and buy primetime network slots. No one would watch a Hillary-Cruz debate. Trump is the reason people watched. He does not need her to have a record-breaking audience.
If Ross Perot can do it, why not Trump... take message directly to the people.
Yes, people would watch a half-hour Trump commercial.
You are correct. Perot appealed to a lot of people by going direct to the voters. Trump has a much bigger appeal than Perot did and he has a much larger personality, so I can see half-hour ad buys being Yugely effective, especially in swing states. Hit on small points, hit on big points, give voters reasons to vote for him, give voters reasons not to vote for Illary, and keep a pro-America theme throughout.
And his campaign can post them to YouTube in conjunction with their TV releases, with links of all the other social media sites.
I think that's what it is. Either a 5-minute buy everywhere simultaneously - which would be "amazing", a sort of stop-the-world moment; or possibly a 30-minute buy on cable a la Perot.
