James Comey Acted on His Own in Clinton Email Disclosure, Violated Justice Department Policy
NY Mag ^ | 10/29/2016 | Chas Danner

Posted on 10/29/2016 12:29:44 PM PDT by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

According to the New Yorker’s Jane Mayer and the Washington Post, F.B.I. Director James Comey acted on his own when he, 11 days before the election, disclosed on Friday that new emails had been discovered which may or may not be relevant to the agency’s closed investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while Secretary of State. Comey, by informing Congress of the evidence, apparently disregarded the opinions of Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Justice Department officials, who had reminded him of the department’s policy of not commenting on ongoing investigations nor acting in such a way as could influence an upcoming election.

Comey apparently understood we was violating these guidelines, but felt he was obligated to do so because he had promised members of Congress he would inform them of any further developments related to Clinton’s email server misuse, as well as because of the proximity of the impending election. In a letter he sent to F.B.I. employees after alerting Congress of the new evidence, Comey acknowledged that it was unprecedented for him to inform Congress of an incomplete investigation, but explained that:

"I feel an obligation to do so given that I testified repeatedly in recent months that our investigation was completed. I also think it would be misleading to the American people were we not to supplement the record. At the same time, however, given that we don’t know the significance of this newly discovered collection of emails, I don’t want to create a misleading impression. In trying to strike that balance, in a brief letter and in the middle of an election season, there is significant risk of being misunderstood, but I wanted you to hear directly from me about it."

The Clintoon’s Nazis and Commies heads are exploding all over the place. They should all be thrown in jail. The scum of the earth.

Did NY Mag and Chas Danner have anything to say about 0bama violating the Constitution? That’s a whole lot bigger than violating department policy, right...Chas?

Speaking of “Saturday Night Massacre’, I wonder how SNL will handle all of this tonight on TV? More Trump bashing.

“They are focused on Comey while and Lynch violated Justice Dept. policy by meeting with Bubba on the Tarmac.”

Yeah...but we weren’t supposed to know about that.

oh yeah ... Loretta Lynch can have a meeting with Slick in her private aircraft on the tarmac in Phoenix, AZ, a week or so before Comey announced he was dropping the initial investigation of Hillary. Justice Dept. didn't seem to have an issue with that ...

He’ll be okay as long as he stays away from Marcy park. He’s got all of the honest, AMERICAN FBI agents on his side. Lynch is the one who needs to resign.

Comey apparently understood we was violating these guidelines ...

We was? Or was we?

Comey lost a lot of respect for letting Hillary off lightly. When something came up that complicated the situation, my guess is he tried to make up for his earlier mistake.

Democrats have had a recent penchant for Arnaud Amalric’s viewpoint “Kill them all and let God sort them out”. Goose—Gander! Maybe it’s just a decent animation.

Ok, make up a cause, settle it in court in maybe 18 months. Regardless, Obama makes a call and Comey’s...getting escorted out of the building.

“We’ll pack your desk Director, you need to leave now!”

It’s a mute point really, it’s the worst move Obama could make right now!

They violated a lot more than policy, and frankly, I don't see how she was not disbarred. Meeting with the target of an investigation or her husband ex parte is a violation of the legal canon of ethics.
