California is the “bread basket” of the US. It used to produce fruits and vegetables year round in quantities that fed the nation. California, with its aqueduct, could be that again. Ideology changed Calif. It can be changed back. La Raza needs to be fought along with the EPA.

You are right.

Ronald Reagan was the last presidential candidate to campaign for California in earnest. (George Bush may have too. I don’t recall.)

At any rate, the state has suffered from this. When you have a Conservative as far up the political food chain as a presidential contender champion Conservative policies in your state, it raises the visibility of those policies. It make them much more likely to be tapped.

What happens if only Leftist policy is spouted? Folks start believing that Leftist policy is the only sound one out there. Populations bases shift over time. Right now anyone who was born in 1975, was essentially too young to realize who and what Reagan was politically. Today, in 2016, those people are 41 years old. In their adult lives, they have not heard a presidential candidate offer up Conservative principles in the state. The RNC has been just fine with that.

When Conservative polices are lofted in the state by highly visible people, the public hears it louder. It becomes more acceptable. The populace is then more receptive to candidates who push those policies, because they understand them.

When Simon ran for governor in California, he ran with no help from the Republican party at all, in state, or nationally. I do believe Bush made two stops with him, in months of campaigning. No big names came to support him. No funding was forwarded to him. He was able to spend a few million dollars while Gray Davis spent ten times as much. Davis flew to stops in a corporate jet. Simon rode around on a bus. The media covered Davis campaign because top Democrat names came to California over and over.

We wonder why California is the way it is. Here are some reasons.

1. California was swamped with illegal immigrants. LITERALLY SWAMPED!

2. Californians made a big stink about it. I did right here. You know what the reaction was? Oh that’s your problem. No, it was the nation’s problem. The U. S. Federal government controls immigration, and any and all violations of our laws. It did nothing. Now the brain trusts trash California for all it’s illegals. Ouy!

3. Right here on this forum, I had folks laugh at me for saying illegal immigration was going to impact the nation as a whole, negatively. “Oh that’s California’s problem!” Well, is it? Yes and no. Sure it’s California’s problem. And now it’s the nation’s problem from coast to coast. Connecticut had to deal with their schools being flooded with illegals.

4. As I touched on earlier, top level Republican candidates running for state office get no help whatsoever from the Republican party. Tens of millions of dollars are raised in California for elections every four years. NONE OF IT is spent in California.

There’s no wonder California is like it is.

I say we stand and fight for it. That means we do it in state, and we get the M-F’s at the RNC to help out as well.

California is the world’s 6th largest economy.

It’s worth fighting for.
