Very true! I've taken 18 days of professionally run classes and there have been two instances of squibs.

Fortunately, in both cases, the squib had not travelled far enough into the barrel to allow the following round to chamber. We surmise it was a case of no powder thrown and only the primer had the enrgy for the light squib.

I am a native Californian and I don’t give one flying F#CK about their ammo, firearms or magazine restrictions.
GOD gave me the RIGHT TO DEFEND ME AND MINE.
The pussies in Sacramento have no say in the matter.
Anybody who can’t find their way around the Ag Inspection (basically just on the main freeways) stations shouldn’t be driving interstate any way.
There are hundreds if not thousands of paved and dirt roads in and out of California, I haven’t gone through an Ag station in 30 years, don’t see why I would start now.

PS: I already buy all my ammunition out of state now (Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona), it’s cheaper.

“Imagine if you had to pay 50 dollars to exercise your free speech rights? The left would be going crazy.”

Well, if they had to pay. If you had to pay, they would think it a dandy idea.

Vote NO on anything in CA that wants money or to do something like legalize weed until the state lays off the second Amendment!

California will make Chicago look like a child’s playground when it comes to shootings.

Zero Compliance!?! Shocked, SHOCKED I tell You!

Lol, well it is when you consider this is the liberal bastion of Los Angeles we're talking about.

Or maybe the Lefties think that magazine law only applies to Conservatives.

How is California anything but a disaster tomorrow? We have two liberal democrat minority females running for Senate, that’s a lose lose. Trump will lose by 20, and there at least a dozen terrible propositions, several which are going to end up passing.

There are simply no limits on California’s wrong-headedness.

If this passes, ammo shops will sprout up all over the state lines in Nevada and Arizona.

That's what I was thinking. Online purchases will spike between now and the day this "law" goes into effect. After that, monthly or quarterly trips to the border will become a thing. "Cooperation" with the left should be only to the extent that they can compel immediate obedience by force, if that. Dissent is patriotic. Speaking truth to power is our civic duty.

I believe Trump will take the state. It will be a horrific shock to libtards.

Completely depends on the gun. And a primer-only detonation won’t even trigger the sound suppression in your ear protection device. I have had a couple and could not tell the difference in sound from a squib and a dead primer.

Anything in CA is possible, that’s why we need a Trump SCOTUS to put an end to Callifornia RATs assaults on the 2A! (And IL, MA, CT and NY, etc. as well)

Actually, we need a FEDERAL LAW, BACKED BY SCOTUS AFFIRMATIN, THAT PROVIDES THAT EVERY STATE LAW REGARDING GUNS IS NULL AND VOID, THAT CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY IS COUNTRYWIDE AND STATES HAVE NO INVOLVEMENT.

All the squibs I have ever encountered have been with a rimfire ammunition. I could hear the pop as opposed to just the firing pin strike. But I’ll grant you that you have to be paying attention and depending on the hearing protection in use you might have to pay even more attention.

Kind of got off on a slight tangent with the squib discussion. Tap and rack is a defensive shooting technique to deal with type I and II malfunctions in a defensive shooting situation. (You probably know this already.)

While a squib would play havoc with this technique, for defensive shooting, quality defensive rounds from a reputable manufacturer would be the recommendation. And defensive shooting guns are likely to be larger center fire caliber, not rim fire. Modern center fire factory ammunition, stored properly, is very unlikely to experience squib loads. And if you are in a firefight, you probably don’t have time to clear a barrel anyway. Given the odds of it occurring, tap and rack and get back into the fight are preferred.

Now tap and rack in .22 practice shooting does not make much sense, as its not necessary, and malfunctions on .22 are more likely.

In 45 years of shooting I have had many misfires, never a hang fire (except black powder), and about 6 squibs on rimfire only - from factory ammunition. I reload but I only shoot my own reloads. I have never had a malfunction with one of my own reloads. I know of many stories of issues with other peoples reloads. I would never use reloads for defensive shooting where ‘tap and rack’ might be used.

Thanks for a good discussion and following the tangent with me. I created a couple of squibs for my own learning, and only then thought of some potential issues. Training uses a lot of rounds and can be an appropriate scenario to use one’s own loads. In directed training one is expected to perform various clearing exercises. That’s where the issue could arise.

There is optimistic, and there is delusional. Trump is going to win many states today, but California is not one, not even close.

Your welcome and also thanks. I enjoy a good shooting related discussion and when I hear other perspectives, I get to go back and think through what “I think I know” as well. :)
